Jesus Navas - 2016/17 performances

First time at right back, against possibly the best player in the league (I mean Sanchez), I thought he did well. Definitely an option, given the state of our defence.

For the rest of this season, there shouldn't be a problem playing him at RB when facing sides who have pace. But it is the right decision in letting him go back to Sevilla next season.

Not if we have RB's fit though. He's not a RB, so should only played there in an emergency.

He did OK, especially as he was often up against Sanchez, and given the fact he got booked early on.

By that logic no one would ever change position. "Mascherano's not a CB we should only play him there if no one else is fit"....2 trebles later he's doing ok.

"Messi's not a centre forward we should never play him there if someone is fit" etc.

Fact is the 2 we currently have are shocking and Navas showed a bit of potential yesterday against very tough opposition. We should give him a few more outings (maybe not Chelsea away) and he might come in very handy in the last 2 months of the season.

Enjoyed the radio 5Live commentary where at one point Alan "massive ****" Greene was ridiculing Guardiola for playing Navas at right back just for the sake of it and Keown just shut him up by saying he'd done well against Sanchez and Pep might have found a new RB.

He did well yesterday although the early booking was a dark shade of yellow. Pep obviously likes him although I hope this is his last season.

Thought he did really well following a difficult first half hour. Navas might be a lot of things but he never stops trying.

Now and then you get an outfield player having to go in goal and making a few good saves.

It doesn't mean he plays there ever again!
