Manuel Pellegrini has been handed his first Manchester City signing after the club finally settled on a fee with Sevilla for winger Jesus Navas.
Personal terms were agreed with the 27-year-old last Thursday.
City had hoped to take advantage of Sevilla’s financial woes to pay only half of the player’s £25.5million buy-out clause.

Tricky winger: Jesus Navas will be Manuel Pellegrini's first Manchester City signing
However, with Real Madrid also showing strong interest, the Spanish side held out, so City will pay an initial £20.4m, with a further £2.5m to follow in add-ons, for the pacy, right-sided midfielder.
Speaking after Sevilla’s final league game at the weekend, he said: ‘I am open to anything, because my main aim now is to try to win titles. City are a team I like a lot.’
Pellegrini is also hoping to buy Malaga’s Isco, Barcelona midfielder Thiago Alcantara and Fernandinho of Shakhtar Donetsk.

Having spent a lot of time in Sevilla I can assure you we are signing an absolute star...quick and tricky winger - would argue exactly what we were missing last year.

Cannot put in to words though how gutted Sevilla fans will be - this is their hero, came through the academy...represented them winning the World Cup, won lots of trophies with Sevilla and had the bravery to face up to mental illness in a very public environment. Deserves a lot of credit for that alone and undoubtedly would have signed for Real Madrid or as reported Chelsea earlier had he been in a position where he could cope with his anxiety. City have a unique "player care" system in place and I'd imagine they will have everything set up already to ensure that it is a smooth transition. Sevilla fans all over twitter saying that he deserves everything he can win at City.

And he is absolutely fast as fuck. Excellent news.

"Fast as fuck?" wow we haven't seen that sort of pace since David White, I've gone all goosebumpy all over!!

Would have definitely preferred to spend the extra 10m and got Reus.

convincing german players to leave germany is already tough. Even tougher to get them to leave a dominant team like Dortmund. I sincerely doubt reus was ever available.

In a league with Messi, Iniesta, Ozil, Xavi etc...Jesus Navas created the most chances last season. Think we could have a great player on our hands blues

Spanish Aaron Lennon yes I suppose so in the same way Mata is the Spanish Steven Ireland, silva is the Spanish Cleverley, Busquets is the Spanish Joey Barton, Xavi is tgeSpanish Henderson and iniesta is the modern Spanish Rick Holden. Spot on great analysis!

They don't have Aaron Lennons in Spain they learn technique as kids!

I know. Dortmund look like they're going to reinvest the Götze money very wisely too.

That'll do me!

good player, determined to win club trophies and he's a plan B which we've been desperate for.

Very sound signing imo, Reus is absolutely a no-go this summer, it's about as likely as Messi.

Also a good early statement of intent by the board, really sets us off on a positive footing for this summer which we lacked last summer.

I dont get the lennon thing either... If you wanna compare him to anyone, then maybe the Valencia of 2/3 seasons ago is closer (with more pace), if you wanna compare him to someone in the Premiership... Not seen him hundreds of times, but from what I have, he's got a good engine, tracks back, weakest part of his games is his goal scoring, but is quick, direct and has a final ball more often than not... Something Lennon struggles with...

So Reus is available for 30m?

I will let Txiki know tomorrow. Will send a quick email off to Tito, Perez, Guardiola and Jose as well.

Well I'm seeing 24m as the eventual fee for Jesus after add ons, which is the price the media usually quote on transfers. I'm not saying Dortmund want to sell Reus, but he's seemingly not as highly rated at Gotze who went for 30m, so I don't think it's unrealistic to say you could get Reus for 34m.

Even if we couldn't get Reus for any money, I'm a bit underwhelmed at a 27 year old Navas. As I say, I think he'll be decent, but I wouldn't have been gutted if the shite or Chelsea had bought him.
