If you wanna compare him to anyone, then maybe the Valencia of 2/3 seasons ago is closer (with more pace), if you wanna compare him to someone in the Premiership... Not seen him hundreds of times, but from what I have, he's got a good engine, tracks back, weakest part of his games is his goal scoring, but is quick, direct and has a final ball more often than not... Something Lennon struggles with...
Both small and lightening quick who aren't a massive goal threat. Lennon actually scored more and got more assists than Navas last year (Lennon 4 and 7, Navas 0 and 6). Of course stats aren't everything and there are lots of other factors at play, but I'm not bowled over by him signing.
I'm cautiously happy about the signing, but I'd see him more as a squad player and decent plan B than the creative mastermind who's going to win us the Champions League.
This stat was quoted earlier (although it was 1 and 6) and then corrected to 1 and 11 iirc. Also, that post quoted a 'chances created' stat for Navas that made him look a lot better than the assists stat (either one) suggests ('chances created' doesn't depend on someone else finishing the opportunities you create).

Yes, but the medical can be done during the tournament if necessary. We still haven't announced Pellegrini and Spain has a Friendly in the USA in a couple of days time.
okay... but the confederations cup starts the 15th, right?

Yes I saw the chances created stat before, and that does look very encouraging. I have to say I think it's a bit of an ambiguos stat, as it's down to the statistician on the day to determine what he consideres a chance created.
I'm cautiously optimistic about his signing, without being blown away. Similar to when we bought Garcia, I just hope he turns out to be better than he has been.

Of the many Navas related articles, showing positive pictures of him celebrating, winning trophies and the like, SSN go with this pic:
