Jesus Navas

The only plus people give him is he puts in a shift. That's a Sam allerdyce or Tony pulis argument. Why not just bring maffeo back and he could be back up to the new right back. He could easily pick up between 10-20 appearances depending how far we go in cups and injuries. Got to give them a chance sooner or later

We have options for the right wing slot so keeping navas on is a backward step imo. Plus the kids at the club are gonna see yet another example of them being overlooked in favour of big money signings or bang average players

Upsides - Always puts in a shift and gives the team balance. Fast.............. Downside - Zero goal threat (not an issue if he's playing as a defender). Rarely has an end product (although the last few games I watched, no player appears to be attacking the front post for low crosses - when Aguero does, we threaten)

He's our best full-back at the moment. None of our other full backs can beat a man and hit the byline. He might not score goals, but he gets forward very well. Sterling and Sane are better in the wide forward role, which is why he was heading out of the club, but he has done very well at right back. It's a great option to have Navas and Sane on the right hand side and allows Sane to go inside and Navas to go wide. If he stays I think their play as a two will improve as they get used to each other. Both new in the team in their roles

Question : if we were selling him , which other premier league teams would be interested.
Answer : lower to mid table teams only.

Ta ra.
Rather than forming an opinion over the last 5 years as a winger and making your mind up that he is sh't. Consider his performance in his current position. We need a 25 man squad, and they wont all be superstars.

I think his ability to just recycle possession is very useful if he's being turned into our back-up right back. Sagna is a solid defender, but prone to just knocking it hopefully down the line. He's got better close control than Zab or Sagna ever had, and that bit of acceleration that can get him out of tight spots.

Save for a couple of rare occasions within matches, Sane has played exclusively on the left, so I haven't really seen anything to suggest that they could form an effective partnership on the right.

As for Navas at full back, while I agree that his tenacity and work rate are laudable, I suspect that teams will soon exploit his lack of height and physique and play aerial balls into the area he defends. Should that happen, then he will be exposed to similar treatment more often.

To be fair Marvin, if I played for City, I'd be our best full back.
