Jesus Navas

quite a few people called this on here over the preceding couple of months.

Back up RB, can play winger if we have injuries there, experienced, pushes up very well (Pep likes this) and, crucially in my opinion, does what he's told.

Managers love all of this flexibility coupled with some discipline. No brainer for me.

I can only endorse this if he plays in goal.

Seriously, if this and the Yaya/Clownio suggestions are true, will someone explain whether we are building for the future or opening a benevolent home?

This is a very good point. If our EDS players are to be kept they need to see some spaces in the 1st team squad available to them as squad players. I don't have any real issues with Navas but I would rather see Roberts back as a squad player.

1st choice, 2nd choice or even 3rd choice. If Navas is given a contract extension this speaks volumes about the chances that will be given to our young players from famed academy under Pep. This must surely just be a mischievious lazy bit of jounalism.

Agreed in Zabs case he's a legend but it's time. Sagna to me is a no-brainer - he has nothing to offer and won't be missed.

Both players have served the club well both aren't going to accept short term cover role at City.

Makes sense - can't afford or justify to bring in 4 fullbacks in the summer, so keeping Navas and Kolarov as squad players who can play a couple of different positions each is a no brainer

Roberts would be challenging Sterling for his place, I'm hopeful Maffeo will be 2nd if not 1st choice RB behind a new RB. Navas would be useful cover for both positions for the 1 season.

So no contract extension for Zabba, our most consistent performer since the takeover then? Ah but then he does appear to have some personality doesn't he? Can't have that in the dressing room. All players must bow down to the precious one and not in any way look to each other for inspiration at any time.

Anyone reckon Sergio will be on the way soon too?

We know yaya is going. Very possibly Komps too.

But navas gets an extra year.

I'm "so so" sick of this clown. What does he have to do before people wake up to the fact that he is no better than average in any league that has more than one other half decent team in it. The whole football world knows that city see themselves as a small little club that feels lucky to have the precious Guardiola as manager.

Our most unsuccessful manager since the takeover. He's taking us back years. And being applauded and worshipped for it.
Oh Dear

Oh my dear god, let this be a rumour... navas must be first out of the door; he has tunnel vision, unable to get the choice of cross right and passes backwards more than forwards.

He's had a good run. Time he was allowed back to Sevilla. Average player, good work ethic, end product often lacking. Surprising news if true.

Good post. Even though he isn't a true RB he has some pace and composure in possession. Definitely a better proposition than retaining Zabs who is past it. Or Sagna who never had it.

Sagna had a great Euro 2016 for France. As a pure defender he's been very solid for us and I was never worried about him when he was starting.
