Oh I forgot, its fashionable to laugh at overweight lesbians now not gag men.

Well if she is a funny overweight lesbian i would laugh, if not i wouldnt. Jim Davidson i find as funny as you, seriously.

i`m not being funny.
A bit like Jim Davidson then?

what is it about racist comics that people find funny?

do you who like him still laugh at paki jokes?

comedy is not about jokes to me, it's about situation. the movement forward of comedy as it is now is maybe it doesn't seem funny on the surface, but ends up being multi-faceted and ultimately rewarding

the only conclusion i can come to - people who like comics like this are thick as fuck.

This is Interesting. There was once a time when Jim davidson was very popular and a regular on television. So a LOT of people must have found him funny/likeable. So what has changed? Have all these people who used to like him, used to laugh at him suddenly turned into racist morons? Or have they had to change their minds because society told them too?

I'd like to add I don't like his style of comedy and have never been a fan. Just asking the awkward question.

Times have changed, that's what. There were several shows that were on regularly back in the seventies and eighties that wouldn't get anywhere near a prime time (indeeed, any time) slot now.
The Black and White Minstrel Show
Mind Your Language
Love Thy Neighbour
It ain't half hot Mum

And those are just off the top of my head.

I understand 'times have changed', but let's compare davidson to Frankie Boyle. Right now in 2011 he seen as hilarious to a lot of people. What if say in 20 years time the times have changed again and the kind of stuff Boyle does now such as disability jokes etc are looked on the same as racist jokes are now? Do the very same people who like boyle now become horrible human beings, or do we all have to change our sense of humour because society doesn't like us to like what we want?

Won't need 20 years!
Anyone who finds Boyle funny is as sick as he is the alcoholic prick.

i love frankie boyle does that mean i would like jim davidson.

yes i do laugh at Pakistani jokes and homophobic ones, i laugh because i know i shouldnt. this situation comedy crap has fueled some of the worst hours of television i have ever seen.i could watch infinite hours of mcintyre, lee evans & rhod gilbert and wouldn't laugh. jimmy carr i also like because he knows he shouldnt be saying something but says fuck you i'm saying it anyway. comedians for me should be controversial and not do a 20 min sketch on plastic fcuking bags at the supermarket

oh i love offensive comedy

i love seeing the church being taken apart, i love fundamentalism that is parodied - i love satire

it's how it's executed. a bloke who's act consists of taking individuals apart on a stage through the medium of one-liners is neither clever, funny, or innovative.
