He could have guaranteed the club £10m though by signing a new contract with the understanding that if a bid was met he was free to talk to a club. £10m for a premier league winner is dirt cheap in todays market.
It leaves a sour taste to be honest, this club gave him the best years of his career, if it wasnt for city he would still be running round like a headless chicken at Villa.
