Jimmy & Joe To Sign New Contracts

While seemingly 'in the driving seat' didn't Bony renegotiate his contract in order that his club gained the maximum leverage from any potential deal?

Yes well done him, quite rare in football these days doesn't mean anyone who doesn't do the same is a greedy **** or a dripping twat or whatever else has been said about Milner in this thread.

Did City behave honourably with Nastasic?

Paying him for doing fuck all, I'd say yes they did.

Right so despite clearly freezing him out because he refused to move to a club he didn't fancy in the summer, the club behaved honourably merely by honouring the terms of his contract ie paying him until they finally managed to force him out of the club. Well in that case Milner has behaved honourably too by honouring his contract but doing no more or less for the club. Basically as fans we want it all ways. If we want rid, players should just fuck off as soon as we say so or they're greedy bastards who are more interested in City's money than playing football. If they want to leave to play more football but we want them to sign (just to get us a transfer fee) then they are bastards for the complete opposite. It's utter fucking nonsense.

Thing is though we will get a fee for Nastasic, he wants first team football and is actively looking for a move, Milner on the other hand has said he has been in negotiations with City but clearly it appears he just wants a fat signing on fee somewhere else, and will use the excuse that he wants to play more football when in reality he will we dropping a level to do so.

He asked for more football at City and got his wish, the least he could do was sign a contract with a release clause in it.

Honourable, with regard to our new powerhouse, seems a fitting word.

Well you should have read some of the stuff being said about Nastasic on here for daring not to move to another club and expecting the club to honour the contract when the club clicked their fingers last summer. It's just the most hypocritical load of bollocks. Is it disappointing that we won't get a fee, yes, would he go up hugely in my estimation if he signed a contract just so we could get a fee, yes, does it make him a greedy **** for not doing something above and beyond the terms of his contract, no. Well no more than it makes City a **** of a club for doing nothing more than merely honouring the terms of Nastasic's contract, the club certainly haven't done anything above and beyond the terms of the contract with him. By and large all parties do what is best for them and that includes the club.

I dont think we treated Nastasic dishonourably. It appeared (and appearances can be deceptive), more appropriately described as playing hardball with him. Which is what Milner now appears to be doing to the club.

You reap what you sow as they say.

its about the fans who shell out every week, what ever harms the club harms the fans.

jimmy milner, manchester city player, 2 premier league trophies, 1 fa cup winners medal, 1 carling cup winners medal and possibly more

jimmy milner, liverpool player hoping for a top 4 now and again if they`re lucky.

Apples and oranges with regards Nastasic.....other than this contract bollocks,Milner has always given his best and displayed nothing but professionalism during his employment, the club,in turn, have treated him accordingly.

I didn't say we did treat nastasic dishonourably tbf, I was just making the point you are making now. The club did what it felt it needed to do with Nastasic because it suited them even though it clearly didn't suit the player. Milner is doing what he feels he needs to do because it suits him but it doesn't suit the club. It is just tough shit and we shouldn't expect to have it both ways.

Are you implying that Nastasic didn't display professionalism?

He took a big cash lump sum in a deal to surrender his release clause, I don’t think he was trying to do the club a favour, I think he negotiated what he thought was a good deal at the time and chose to take the cash that was on the table, again, if a lot of us where in his position we would do the same.
