Jimmy & Joe To Sign New Contracts

Why is it that whenever these scenarios about him staying are painted they are always through the context of him never kicking a ball for us again? The truth is that he's been here 5 years played under 2 managers and has been used in a similar fashion throughout his time. There is NOTHING in the way he's been utilised this season to suggest anything other than that he is a very valuable member of the squad to Pellegrini and the club.

It's fine to characterise him as being someone who is looking out for himself, he is. But lets stop pretending that he's ever been some downtrodden Scott Sinclair/Nastasic type who never gets a look in, or that that is definitely what his future holds at City.

When Milner looks at signing a new contract how much he has played in 5 years under these 2 managers is largely irrelevant. What's going to be more important is how much he'd get to play for the duration of his new contract.

Let's say we were to offload Sinclair and one or 2 others in the Summer and sign 2 of Isco, Reus or Pogba (or players of a similar standing). Then ask every forum member to pick his starting 11. How many would pick Milner in the starting 11? How many would even have him on the bench? Very few I suspect and likewise I doubt our manager/s over the next few years would either. Milner knows that and knows his future time on the pitch is likely to be limited beyond the Summer.

To be honest the fact that he's still playing as much as he is shows that our signings in recent years haven't been the best and/or we have had a lot of injures.

That Bony talk makes sense

Swansea probably offered him a couple of million to sign a new deal, knowing they could then get an extra £10 million for him on the market as his release clause was only £18 - £19 million up until him signing

Clever on Swansea's part, it appears they were one step ahead of the game, unlike us with the Milner deal
Spot on.

Desperate stuff but hardly surprising lol

You never miss an opportunity.

Not twisting the knife at all fella, that is what we should have done

And if he wasn't willing to sign then we should have listened to offers, im sure there would have been a fair amount of takers last summer at £10-£15million, especially given that is what Sunderland paid us for Rodwell

Bony was good enough to help his club out by signing, with an agreement they would let him go, good for all parties. Milner could quite easily have done the same sign his contract with a release clause in it for if he wasn't getting games, Milner obviously isn't prepared to do that, how is it the clubs fault? You can only be one step ahead if both parties are co-operating. Milner isn't.

Shudda,wudda,cudda.....

Chris....the fucker has obviously been playing games with us for the past 12 months,i imagine the club has made every attempt to find the best compromise while he has happily led us a merry dance by dragging it out with his jackanory terms.

Perhaps,if anything,we are guilty of showing him too much respect.

We're all speculating on what has happened, when quite frankly not one of us knows what has been discussed during the negotiations.

If the 'fucker' has been playing games with us, then why is he playing for the club week in, week out? Why is he still even at the club?

I don't think he is daft. He knows he isn't going to get much football next season, as every man and his dog knows we need to strengthen in the wide areas with some real quality. So if he signs this new contract, and then realises he isn't getting much of a look in, where does that leave him? Back to square one but this time any club that wants to sign him is probably going to have to cough up £10m - £15m in order to get City to even consider selling him.

We're obviously playing him because he remains a very useful asset and why we would we bite off our nose....?

Even at 10m,if an extension was signed, and he pocketed say 20%......he would still remain a very attractive proposition for a 'rival'.

Regardless,as ive said before, money isn't my main gripe, its his underhand exit strategy.
