Jo

Great debut by Jo. If you take into account he is not match fit, not as sharp as he can be and was playing in a totally new system and with different players he had a great game.

You can see that there is a really good player there. It just needs coaxing out. Considering he spent the whole game being smashed into by O'Brien and Cahill his hold up play was really surprising. Why you have loaned him out I don't know, you have a terrific striker there. It's a shame that because we have a chairman that is a total bell end we will never be able to afford him.

A few things you lot have said though are really baffling. Lucky touch for his first goal? Watch it again, he just makes a show of the centre half.

If he looks at the big picture then yes, Everton will not be able to maintain their league position for much longer. we will pass them next year. Villa now have, they wont catch the top 4 positions. However if he is happy then I wouldnt blame him for staying.

What are you basing this on? Because you're certainly not basing it on previous seasons were we have out-matched clubs that have spent more than us. Why wont we be able to maintain it? We still have a better side than you lot, regardless of your insane spending.

He's playing with a bunch of clobbers

What? Disregarding Robinho we have a player in Arteta that is miles better than any player you have. Just because you recently watched us play Liverpool, Liverpool, Arsenal, Man Utd and Liverpool again and we haven't passed them off the park doesn't mean we can't play.

Insane spending? 100m, everton have spent about 60m and then add the Value of Jo. We have only just put the team together, ffs. You have been building for 5 years+, all the teams at the top have been building for longer... rags, pool, arse, chelsea, villa and ureself, it's not rocket science.

What, like Villa? What nonsense.

If people on here would back the players with the same blind faith that they back the manager, then perhaps he would have scored some of those goals for us. But no, no faith showed by the fans nor manager and his confidence was destroyed. We have just handed one of our best potential players to a team that are aiming for the same as us this season. Classy move by our manager that, when we have a team full of journeymen that could have been despatched instead.

Unless Hughes doesn't have the intention of letting him go permanently and only to ease him into the premiership via another team. The option to buy thing is a big sketchy, I heard there wasn't one then I heard there was so who knows.

Moyes>>>>>Hughes

Based on?

Hughes got BBurn into Europe on nothing whilst Moyes yo-yo'ed between Europe and relegation with Everton, who have a better squad.

Now both managers have completely different projects, its a fool who attempts to judge them like for like... especially on a thread about a player who has, so far, played one game under his new manager.

I really cannot remember when I last read so much garbage in one line of a thread ! Everton have continually outperformed many teams with a greater spending power ,they are the only team that has broken into the " usual suspects " cartel of a top 4 place in recent years , City have spent hundreds of millions and can't get within 9 points of Everton and this is without Yakubu who scored 21 goals last season ! Except for Shay Given playing , the mighty 'Boro would have walked away with 3 points , And Jo ? hasn't started a game for weeks , then goes to a team who you have just stated are trying to ' stay up an not get releated ' .. and scores twice , showing a glimpse of the form that warranted a £19m fee. I would be amazed if by the end of season, City are within 15 points of Everton...... Everything downhill for Everton ? look at the recent results against the 'sky4' , the only team to have beaten them .. Man Ure ..1 0 .. a penalty at old truffle , But on the positive side ,I can see City being jut like Liverpoo ! ... the next 19 years saying .... " Just wait 'til next season , we can buy our way to the title " ........ but you might get lucky , Ian Holloway + Graham Souness are looking or jobs! dream team !!

Might need a tin hat here but, perhaps we should wait a few games before judging him!

He scored two goals for us in Europe remember, and didnt do much more.

I'm pleased for the lad and hope (only if we can keep him) that he does well there and comes back firing, however, lets wait until the summer before labelling him the next best thing and its all Hughes's fault.

Sorry, can't be arsed reading 28 pages about Jo but this is the closest comment I agree with. I've just seen the highlights on MOTD and my opinion about him is still unchanged - he's not good enough to get into our squad. His first goal yesterday was a bit of a fluke and his second was a penalty. Big Deal.

Maybe a few games under his belt for Everton will change things but at the moment I still think we made the right decision loaning him out.

I am sure this has been said earlier in the thread but, I am so pissed off that we put one of our strikers out on loan to a direct rival and then he goes and scores two and makes one!!!!! I thought his goal was genius, Taggart mark two will be leaping for joy, what a deal, they will get goals from him,Jo(ke) should have been loaned out abroad end of, his goals for them could stop us getting 6th place!

PS like everyone I thought Jo(ke) was a sack of shite for us but the pressure or MH did not help.......

I note that MotD match commentary, Jo being a City player, was a factual point avoided!! Not even a mention that he was on loan, but they DID mention what a decent start to his Everton career, it was!!

And, by the way, what's this utter tosh that Jo is too 'lightweight' for the Prem?? Utter rubbish! The boy played exactly the same as he had at City, except the passes came off today, the ball seemed to be played into his feet a lot (it was in the air a hell of a lot from us!) AND he had more support than what he usually had for us when pressing towards goal!
Absolutely right Bigga. Our kind of football does not suit players who play football on the floor, Elano, Jo and Robinho etc.
It's horrible to watch but it is very effective at upsetting better teams and very difficult to beat if Hughes gets it right.

Without being dismissive, i thought it was on the floor a hell of a lot yesterday and a lot of the interplay was fantastic. It just needed more goals to cap it off.
i think you'll find the absence of Dunne has quite a bit to do with it.
