That was Atletico Madrid. They were supposed to pay 60m for Griezmann after selling him to Barca for 120m. They did not want to so they would only bring him on for 30 odd minutes so it doesn’t count as an appearance. Eventually Barca sold him for 20-25m. So yeah, not a similar situation. Barca don’t really have right backs aside Sergi Roberto who isn’t good and Jules Kounde does not want to play there. Given CL and league fixtures he’ll undoubtedly play many games. They wouldn’t agree to pay his wages for a whole year otherwise, the 70% games is just for their security given his behaviour in the past, not necessarily a bad thing.

I'm fully expecting him to play somewhere between 65-69% of their games this season.
 
in some ways it works in our favour both ways, if he plays 70% of their games we get the money, if he doesnt he'll throw his toys out of the pram and be a poison in their dressing room win win

I thought even getting subbed in the last few seconds would give you an appearence, every stat site counts it like that?

Unsure on that mate because they brought him on for 40 odd minutes regularly and avoided it on a technicality, he was supposed to play 50% before it became obligatory. Maybe they had a clause where it was starting 50% of games.
