I doubt it, to be honest. As soon as he came to prominence, he was - like all young German players - earmarked for Bayern. Had we gone in for him at anytime, they would have snapped him up there and then.
You may well be right but would have been worth a try, if we can throw 27m at players like adebayor we'd have got that lad for less.

It' s not so easy in the January window, and I don't think Joe would want to stick around as a number 2 in a World Cup year. When on form, there aren't a lot of keepers better than Hart. The problem is that he didn't start off the season at the top of his game and it cost the team. I don't however think that Pants should be starting over Hart at this point. One match, ok. I can get behind that. I really hope that Hart will be back in goal for Swansea.

I think it was right to give Joe a rest in the Capital One Cup tie, but I would have stuck him back in for the league game. Keepers live off confidence, further time away from the sticks will be doing him no good in my opinion.
