Improve massively? How?
When he runs to the edge of the box there are players waving their arms in the air and he very rarely if ever releases it quickly. That's one thing I really liked about Pantillimon and he is superior to Joe with it. With our fast paced attacking play it is essential that we have a quick release of the ball from the 'keeper and Joe holds on too long too often (did it today and Boxing Day).

His decision making can be very indecisive, causing us problems. Even the other day he should have walked out and claimed that ball over the top where Lescott was backtracking and Liverpool nearly scored (was actually a save by Joe in the end but the whole situation could have been avoided had he just collected the ball over the top.

Conversely, he sometimes comes charging out of his box and not dealing with it a situation. Goals have been scored from instances such as Blackburn at home a few years ago, playing for England with the Ibrahimovic overhead kick, for the Chelsea goal this season and even recently when playing g for England when he took out Smalling and didn't deal with the ball.

His distribution can be inconsistent. Especially kicks out of hand. Against Plzen and today he kicked a fair few out over our players heads for an opposition throw-in.

He's always been a great shot stopper, and even when he was struggling with making big mistakes he was still making good saves.

But there's a long way to go for Joe in my opinion.

One of the reasons you cite is because he keeps hold of the ball too long.

Do you want him to ignore the wishes of the management for him to delay distributions on the occasions that certain players aren't in position, just to please you?

You list other examples of why he needs to improve, but these are all before being rested in which he has been nurtured/coached and mentored. How do you know he hasn't improved on there aspects?

Fair enough if you said he needs to improve, because everyone can, but massively is doing him a huge disservice.
Eh? Even though, as I said, Pantillimon does it well and there are players actually in space ready and wanting for the pass. There is no "ignoring the wishes of the management", it's something he needs to improve on.

Whereas I would agree with you that his distribution has never been the best, I think it is unlikely to improve. It's to do with how quickly he is able to assess situations and the truth is he isn't that quick. Same applies to commanding the 6 yd box on high balls. He never has done this particularly well and will never do.
On the other hand his shot stopping ability is amongst the very best now his confidence is returning.
We have to accept the rough with the smooth with Joe. With the right cover from his CDs and in his best form he is definitely good enough to play between the sticks for mcfc but I doubt his distribution or command of the area is likely to improve. That's just how he has always been. That's Joe Hart.

Why do u think that?

Hart is suspect with corners, decisions on when to leave his line and distribution. Ok he may be working on it, I dont see anything in Pants game that deserved dropping him. Also I dont agree there should be automatic No1 positions. I respect everyones opinion on the forum, this is just mine.
I agree with you tiggsywiggsywoo and if hart looked like Peter Beardsley,no one would give a fuck !
He nearly did today and we'd still give a fuck no matter what. Where are you by the way?

You have to give credit where its due and joe has got over a rough period and starting to put some good performances in again, not world class but good. As far as I can remember the spurs game at whl at the start of the season a couple of years back was his best performance poss considered world class on that day and as far as im concerned that is joe's target and going of today he's on his way back there.

Crikey, looking at photos of that eye the lad is a definite hero and very, very lucky. Looks as if if it had gone a mere fraction higher we would be really worrying about him tonight.

Hey Joe, sorry but Zaba's hero badge cannot be taken off him yet but you are coming a very clear second!! Good luck and hope it heals well.

In all honesty I don't think Joe's distribution was that poor yesterday, not at least in terms of how long he took to send out those quick throws. I only remember 1 or 2 occasions throughout the entire match where he hesitated a little because the back four weren't quite ready.

Big change in JH attitude. Watch tunnel Cam and he no longer jokes and plays up to the Cam. He is more serious and focussed. When he comes on the pitch he no longer smiles and laughs, once again he is more focussed. Always believed his joviality ( Remember RK calling him cocky?) was a strength that allowed him to put mistakes behind him and bounce back. New attitude will be tested when he does make a howler.

Great couple of games back. Lomg may it continue.

Every credit to Joe and the management team's handling of the situation. Every man and his dog had a view on whether he should be dropped but he has come back in and done exactly what he used to; we wouldn't have six points from the last 2 games without him. There may be better keepers out there but I haven't seen one that beats Joe Hart at his very best. Just hope it continues!

there's a lot in what you say but I believe it's more of a return to the young Joe, the lad who saw his chance when Mancini threw him in at the deep end at White Hart Lane and he pulled off a string of blinding saves, single-handedly earning a point.

As he got drawn into the ' England's Number On' situation and was fawned on by pundits for whom he could do no wrong but who turned on him as soon as he slipped up in an england jersey, so his youthful confidence turned to brashness ( his antics against Pirlo in Euro 12) via over-confidence into shattered morale.

Pellegrini was wise to take him out of the firing line. Doubtless he's counselled him and probably set him to work with Mancisidor on his decisionmaking.

Against liverpool he was boosted by Coutinho's hesitation which enabled him to bring off a vital save. And his attitude at the end in the Suarez' booking incident was notably mature-instantly accepting Suarez' regret, signalling to the ref there was no need for a booking, then waving Suarez away, forget it mate, let's just get on with it.

Against Palace he seemed back to his best- gymnast saves and the bravery against Jerome which recalled the incident when he was on loan and had to have his scalp stitched after taking an unintentional kick in the head against Chelsea.

If he listens to Manuel Pellegrini and not the dumbass pundits, he'll be all right
