Sorry - in the PL we can name up to 8 "locally trained" players in our 25 man squad. These don't have to be club-trained as long as they've been at an English (or Welsh) club for the qualifying period. In the CL we can only name up to 4 such players in the squad, with at least another 4 being club-trained (i.e. at City).

That means that having those 5 locally trained players doesn't impact our PL squad but if we sell Hart & buy Ter Stegen he would have to take a foreign slot. In the CL squad, one of the five locally trained players would have to take a free place anyway, so it doesn't make any difference to the CL squad if we replace Hart with Ter Stegen.

Great thank for that.

You want there to be more in it, sadly the reality is he is flawed..

And Valdes?? How much of barca have you actually watched?

I'd rather there was no cause to let him go, but if it has to happen, so be it. I just don't believe if you're the supposed to be one of the best coaches in the world, you choose not to coach a player within a matter of weeks. It makes far more sense that there's other issues than 'ball at feet'.

As for Barca, I've seen plenty. Theres'a reason why Neuer is the 'sweeper keeper' pinup boy and not Valdes, that's because Valdes was never renowned for it.
This 'ball at his feet' criticism is all since Pep arrived and suddenly everybody's on Hart's back about it. Hart has other issues that we've all seen for many seasons, but the ball at his feet issue isn't one of them (imo) - that's a new buzz phrase being put forward as the reason why Pep doesn't fancy Hart. Nobody was putting that forward as the reason Pellegrini thought he needed some time out.

The guys clearly a hart fan as apposed to city
Any mug that thinks Valdes didnt play the sweeper keeper role is either oblivious or plain ignorant

I'm a City fan, not a Hart fan.
'Sweeper keeper' is the new buzz phrase on this forum. I've said Hart has plenty of issues we've all seen - I just don't buy that it's all about this 'ball at his feet' issue. If he's going, it's for more than just that.

Don't just other posters the way you judge keepers. You'll drop the ball too often.

I'll be sad if he leaves as he has been a great servant to the club. He's amongst the best shot stoppers in the world today, and would be an excellent signing for most sides.

I'm hoping this is Pep's way of making sure that Hart is a fighter because we have bigger issues elsewhere on the pitch.

But it wasn't a matter of weeks was it? Are you really that naive? Or is it possible, perhaps, that Pep has done his homework on this squad a number of months ago? He knew he was coming here 3 years ago ffs!! It was always going to happen.

He has arrived at the same judgement as me and several others on here with a brain cell, that being his game has a major flaw and is not suited to Peps style.

I wish Joe all the best for his future, but it's the correct decision.

The point im making is you said, and said it in plain fact, that Valdes didnt perform this role with barca
Mate he borderline introduced it to europe around 8 years or so ago,

Its what he is known for at barca, thats all..
A new keeper is a must if we are to play the way pep demands, and we are, so its a matter of time as Hart is of course not suited
