we have all seen what pep did with the big players at barca and even what taggert did over the road with the so called big players and there egos and it was no detriment to them what so ever....for the first time in years we have a manager who has got the balls to ruffle a few feathers and not affraid to make changes for ultimately the end result...no one is bigger the club and it looks like Joe is going to find that out within the next 2 weeks
In their prime, Ferguson got rid of Ince Kanchelskis Beckham Stam vanNiistelroy. He got rid Keane who was club captain.

None of the fans at the Swamp agreed with any of these transfers but Ferguson kept on winning.

There's some sentimental football simpletons on this thread.

No one. Literally no one thinks Willy is a better keeper. I don't reckon there's many think Willy is better with his feet either. But what we've witnessed is Willy doing as instructed and Hart not doing (and we didn't watch the St Johnstone game Hart played in).

We also don't watch training and know what's been said by whom and to whom.

But one thing that is for sure is that if Pep wants Txiki to buy a keeper, he doesn't drop the No1 keeper on a whim or to prove a point or to alert other clubs to his availability. The very thought is beyond ludicrous. His agent would be in the phone to 50 clubs within minutes if he was told to leave or find another club.

Pep believes we concede less goals by having control of the ball than we would having the world's best shot stopper kicking it to the opposition every time. He's not going to change now and any City fan not understanding that should either have a word with themselves or be prepared to be disappointed.

Possibly mate. I`m not saying what I feel is completely rational, but we are talking about footballer who play for the team we Love. I think where City and most of us are concerned rationality goes out the window.

Perhaps its that Joe is English which is a plus regarding the quota, perhaps he`s been here a long time and feels like he`s nearly city as Zab or Vinnie.
Perhaps its because this feels like the media are praying for us to sell Joe then will beat us with a big stick.
Perhaps its the games I remember like against Barca and Dortmund to name 2 where he stood between us and annihilation.
Perhaps its when I see De Gea make 2 mistakes for 2 goals against Spain that saw them leave the Euro`s without so much of a word.
Perhaps I`ve gone in defencive mode because it`s what other clubs fans will love,

Perhaps its the names of 6 goalies who some thought were better than Joe,
De Gea, Foster, Loris, Courtois, Butland, Schmeichel, none of whom have never 1 won the golden glove between, never mind the 4 Joe`s won.

Perhaps it`s the last 3 years under Pelligrini where our defencive organisation has be woeful at best with no midfield cover in front of the back 4. I think any goalkeeper in the world form would suffer.

I feel like the lone voice in the wilderness and yes it maybe be Irrational but it`s what I feel.
Nothing wrong with any of that mate. I feel similar when I see Kompany or Silva attacked because I still feel they have so much to offer and are deserving of a lot more respect afforded him by some posters.
The Hart situation is similar although in this case I have come to terms with it because I've had a while to take in the fact that Joe just isn't a Pep keeper. I'm still hoping he can prove us naysayers wrong mind.

I'm at least comfortable in the knowledge that should Pep fail, we have multiple more qualified candidates waiting in the wings to take over.

There should be a degree of loyalty or at least a chance given to someone who has been an ambassador for the club, who has 10 years service. When I say chance given, I mean on the pitch, not in training. If he has to go up against another proven keeper then fair enough, just don't tell me Caballero is that proven, better goalkeeper.

I would imagine Pep has watched Joe for some time, at least since it was announced he was coming here. So in terms of chances given, Pep obviously feels he's seen enough to make the decision. On loyalty, well there is no loyalty in football, you're either in our you're out. Particular when a new manager comes and doesn't fancy you. That is football.
I don't think anyone is suggesting Willy is a better keeper than Joe - but then nobody is suggesting Willy is the next number 1 either, so I don't understand why you are pitching this as Joe V Willy? Willy played because the manager feels he's the better option right now, maybe Joe just isn't mentally right at the moment? I'm sure he's upset and pissed off.

I really like Hart as a keeper but I don't think he's helped himself. Cheeseman hasn't decided to make up his comments on the podcast, he's too old in the game and too close to City to do that.

People keep talking fluff about loyalty and sentiments, but that's entirely irrelevant.

Pep Guardiola should be allowed to build the team he wants and if Joe isn't part of that, then that's it.

I don't keep up to speed with things like homegrown quotas, but won't this impact on that?

Yes and no. Both the CL and PL require a senior squad of 25 players, of which no more than 17 can be foreign.

But there is a crucial difference between the two as the CL squad restrictions involve having at least 4 club trained players (that's City-trained) and no more than 4 association-trained ones (that's trained at an English club other than City) in the 25. Joe is association-trained as he wasn't with us early enough to qualify as club trained. Clichy, Stones, Delph & Sterling are the others, meaning one would either have to be dropped from the CL squad (unlikely) or (more likely) take one of the 17 free places. So replacing Hart with Bravo probably doesn't actually make much difference from a CL point of view.

However the PL squad rules just say that you can have up to 8 players who are association trained, whether your own club or not. So getting Bravo in for Hart does affect the PL squad as he would then have to be a foreign player and we'd have to drop an additional player from the PL squad.
