No, allowing him to be hung out to dry with two weeks of the window left. Don't buy this Pep wanted to assess everyone first bollocks, he would have known coming to us that Joe is not Andrea Pirlo with the ball at his feet.
He is not being hung out to dry any more than any other player who is dropped, or not deemed good enough anymore. It happens.
Nobody's moaning about Bony going are they?
Yes Joe's been good for us, so was Shaun Goater, Bellamy, Tevez, but in the end they all went.
Joe is well liked by many fans, and whilst some recognise some of his weaknesses, it's still probably a bit of a shock that he should be one of the first 'big names' to face the axe - but someone was always going to be the first big name to face the axe.
It could well be Kompany next, it could even be Silva - we just don't know.
When you are dropped, you are dropped. It's not being 'hung out to dry'. We as fans don't know the full facts, we don't know if there's been ongoing issues over a period of time - we just don't know, and even if there's been no issues and it's entirely down to Pep's assessment of him as a keeper - then c'est la vie.
Put it another way, if Barca said they'd do a deal with us for Messi that required Joe Hart in part exchange - I doubt many of us would be so reluctant to let him go.
As for Pep not assessing everyone - again, we don't know how long he's been keeping an eye on us and we don't know if other City management have had some input into the situation with Hart. Although Pep is the manager, decisions at the club involve more than just him.
I liked Joe, I thought he was a very decent keeper and did a great job for us. I liked Given too and thought the same of him. But we aren't going to rival Barca / Madrid / Bayern without more upgrades, and those upgrades are getting closer and closer to happening with some of our long held favourites. Joe's just the first.
