Putting allegedly after what could be libel, does not make you safe from a civil action, in law you are just repeating the original libel, and therefore can be deemed libellous. Just trying to help :-)

Unless it's true or you can demonstrate you reasonably believed it to be true.
But if in doubt - say nowt.

So if Cheeseman is saying it's not football reasons. What is it then? 400+ pages and counting!

He is not saying it's not.
Cheeseman simply said there could be more to it, that he had heard Joe had demonstrably lost his temper on hearing he was not starting against Sunderland, and there was a possibility some players might have been a bit too big for their boots. Without Mr Cheeseman saying that, I would imagine that's what most would speculate on anyway.

And with any slightly unexpected dropping of a player, there's always the general debate about non-footballing reasons why players can sometimes fall out of favour - lifestyle / fitness / attitude / infidelity / numerous vices etc. They've all been factors throughout history when players have gone off the rails behind closed doors that might not manifest themselves on the pitch.

Fernando, Kolarov, Clichy and Sagna. Neither are of sufficient quality to the do the roles Pep would have then doing on a consistent basis. Not against teams with any form of quality anyway.
I don't think there is much wrong with Clichy and Sagna anyway, both are good footballers, Pep might think he can mould them in the short term, and he's clearly got Kolarov doing things the way he wants, if he can trust him at CB.

I would imagine Joe's not the only player Pep intends to improve upon, but he has to do things a step at a time (even if they are rapid steps) and some of those steps will be dictated by opportunity too. There's no point in demotivating a player unless you have a replacement lined-up. Even if you think a player is poor one, you can still tell him he's fantastic and squeeze as much as you can from until you can find a replacement.

I suppose there's an outside chance that Pep might just be giving Joe one hell of a kick up the arse, and it's all gotten out of hand, but it's a very slim chance I would think, especially if our interest in other keepers is genuine.

The whole 'Pep doesn't fancy Joe' thing has been going on for about a year, so either the journalists got very lucky with a speculative guess, or they genuinely did have a bit of intel ;-)

One thing that has not been mentioned on here, is Harts reaction to all this..

it appears so far we have at least 2 players who have been told to find new clubs , hart and nasri.

Let's compare reactions.

Nasri..

Took it on the chin, kept quiet, has trained well and lost weight.
In other words, he has got on with it.

Hart.

Face like a slapped arse, sulking and not much else..

Could this be the way he behaves on a regular basis?

No wonder we are getting rid

Let me know when your redundancy notice arrives from work. I'll take a pic of your beaming face and post it on here.

If Kolarov can play CB then why can't Joe get the opportunity to mould into a "sweeper keeper" to use the phrase.

It has to be non-footballing reasons for Joe surely?

I don't think there is much wrong with Clichy and Sagna anyway, both are good footballers, Pep might think he can mould them in the short term, and he's clearly got Kolarov doing things the way he wants, if he can trust him at CB.

Joe's a good keeper too. I suppose at this stage of City's development we're not really getting rid of dross any more, we're fine tuning a pretty decent team already. It was all a lot easier to understand when we were getting rid of Jo etc, but the lines are becoming much more blurred now when we're replacing already very good players, with (hopefully) even better ones. The margins get smaller and smaller, and the distinctions increasingly subtle.
