Are you saying you prefer to have Willy in net rather than Joe?

IMO Pep dropped Joe to make it crystal clear to prospective incoming keepers he wanted a new number one at City because Joe didn't meet his requirements.

For the way we now play yes. Not because I don't think Hart could possibly play the ball to feet but that I don't think he thinks he should. Arsenal and St Johnstone told Pep all he needed to know.

Pep's been very clever here. I believe Hart is 100% out but the way he's phrased it, people will say "Well he gave Joe the choice but obviously he didn't want to stay and fight".

Absolutely. He's a clever man.

But my point/question is - does Joe give the ball away more than Willy, especially if he is instructed to pass it out ?

Yes. From what has been witnessed so far and him not being No1 tomorrow is further evidence. There's not a chance Pep think Willy is the better 'traditional' keeper. But Pep has spent the last month and a half with them and seen them both in training and spoken with them both at length.

Where does the 10% more come from ? 10% more possession is quite a lot.

Yet to be convinced that we will have that much extra possession as a result of Willy instead of Joe

10%/7%/15% matters not. A keeper hoofing it forward and losing possession more often than retaining it will have a major bearing in possession stats and everything that follows each loss of the ball.

The ball skills is important but is also a red herring. He has gone backwards and lacks form. Courteous , de gea, loris and Czech are way ahead of the other keepers in the prem league . If he was as good as those 4 pep would put up with him I expect.

2 of the last 3 managers did not rate him and Pellers was hardly a manager. Mancini was going to replace joe because in that last season joe was making mistakes and Mancini wanted him out. Now pep does not rate him. There must be something wrong. I cannot comment on attitude as I don't know him but performance wise he lacks concentration. If he is busy in games he buzzes and is good. If he is quiet he makes stupid costly mistakes. Euros anyone?

Pep wants the best of the absolute best and joe isn't that. He is a city legend and always will be. I would love him to stay and fight and prove pep wrong but he won't do that because he believes he deserves to be number 1 - end of. Pep doesn't.

I cannot answer that question because he ain't going to get the chance, pep may well feel willy is better than Joe at passing but it's not really relevant, pep knows bravo is, this is about bravo over hart not willy over hart

Yes I agree regarding Bravo. But until then Joe>Willy for me.

I wonder why other manager's don't do this?!

I loved Pep's press conference telling it like it is. Pellers would have just dismissed any talk of Hart.

it's political and i don't buy that he's needs a sweeper keeper and can play from the back joe hart is great with his feet and kicking and i would say the best in the league at both. but in the back ground joe hart is a main part of the old guard and got some power and respect from players and under pellegrini he was doing whatever he likes and picked the games he wanted to play even the league cup final joe hart let willy play in my book

joe may need a move to fresh him up and start a new and a clean break would give him something to show his new club but i will say joe hart is a winner and will only move if he feels the club don't want him and the new club are a winning club with champions league football
