Tip for PG .. You've got far more pressing issues than GK. Get yourself a competitive midfield together as your priority. By all means bring in a credible 2nd choice GK after that.

I'm sure Joe will be retained at least initially to see if he can carry out a sweeper role in the way we've seen Neuer progress. It's whether he can do that and be effective for the team without losing his primary ability as a shot stopper. I can see the situation arise where we get a goalkeeper in that is extremely effective with the ball but prone to more errors than Hart but the goalkeeper is a huge part of Pep's tactics and indeed Germany at the last world cup relied a hell of a lot on Neuer playing as a sweeper whilst the rest of the side played a high line. It essentially meant any ball over the top had to be pinpoint accurate, far enough behind the defence for their attackers to get there but not too far that the keeper can get the ball easily. Not many players out there can play that ball.
Again,i agree, and this may even translate to the entire defence.....'footballers' ahead of traditional strong arm defenders.I'm sure Pep will want 11 players who are comfortable and composed on the ball, the goalkeeper in such a team is essential to that idea, hopefully Joe can step up and be that man but,i believe, from the evidence so far....he will struggle.

I haven't seen all that much of Ter Stegen, apparently he's a great passer but just curious, how is he at keeping goal? Anyone?

All these people that keep saying Joe cannot play the Pep way , please can you explain to me the Pep way. Please don't say passing it here and hitting diagonal balls there . Explain what the players do to allow this happen. Because has many have said the keeper is the least of our problems. Most of our players cannot receive the ball when they are under pressure, unlike players at Barca , Madrid Bayern. A lot of our players when pressurised have the touch of a donkey. Silva is the exception, if we can get that type of player who also has pace and power that would be great.

Hart did not get us to the semis. It's a team game and he is 1/11 of that team. The team took us to the Semi's
OK he gave us the chance of getting to the semis. 1 pen save + 6 fabulous saves in the games against PSG Says he did more than anyone else to get us there.

Happy Anniversary big man, you deserve anything a Pep talk can bring. Head and Shoulders our best goalie for a long time, his concentration has improved and even though I've slagged him before I know he can get better. Get the lazy cnuts in front of him doing there job and he will be golden glove for at least another three years.

That's a very good excuse. Doesn't work for me. There are players in space, not every single players is man marked - I was watching England and there were players in as much room as I've seen Barcelona players be under Pep with Valdes pinging a 30 yard crossfield pass right to the feet of Alves for example. Movement is crucial, but an accurate pass is more so. Our players can move all over the pitch if they like, but Hart would still potentially kick it out into touch. At the end of the day if short 5 yard passes is all the keeper needs to do then that's fine, but to get attacks going he'll need to find players in more advanced positions and in space. The goalkeeper becomes such a crucial extra man under Pep. His role enables the outfield 10 to overload the opposition and create chances by doubling up in positions and switching the ball from side to side. Pep needs a keeper that allows his tactics to be properly implemented and whilst movement will help I think it's foolish to think Hart currently is good enough to distribute the ball the way Pep would expect.
Totally disagree. One they didn't get the space you say they did, and, Two only one England defender (Rose) is really good enough on the ball to pass the ball forward.

You've not watched him as closely as you should then. Watch these highlights of him. Time and time again he gets the ball and dwells on it too long as England defenders who were once in space get closed down. He also picks the poor option when passing which then puts his defence under pressure - he does this by either not putting enough pace on the ball or choosing to pass to the man with no subsequent option. You can blame the movement of the England midfield for this to some extent, but you can see quite clearly from this video how many times Hart keeps the ball for too long whilst Cahill in particular is sprinting wide to pick the ball up to feet (and he is in enough space to turn and play it out). England tactically had been instructed to do that and pass it out from the back - that was clear. Especially with Stones on the pitch who is excellent on the ball and at passing. Cahill is good enough as well to pass it forwards so I disagree with you saying Rose is the only one good enough in possession, in fact he's probably the worst of the back 4 England picked.

If you still sympathise with Hart and blame others, watch Valdes or Neuer and see how good they are with the ball, and how often they pass to a player under far more pressure than the England defence were on Sunday. They play accurate and well weighted passes and then offer themselves for the return ball if required. Hart isn't comfortable doing that and it shows. Some people might not like to hear it, but he's in trouble now Pep's come to the club unless we see an improvement with his footballing skills.
