Because Kolarov might be playing there out of necessity, not necessarily because it's in Pep's masterplan.
Just because he's dropped Joe, it doesn't mean he thinks the rest are better and don't need to be dropped, but he can afford to drop Joe thank to having Willy and for all we know, keeper in the pipeline, he possibly feels he can't afford to start dropping defenders when we're already notably weak in that area with nobody to bring in (yet).

Joe's making £5.5m a year and will still make somewhere around that at Everton without missing a beat or a paycheck. I can imagine that the guy you're replying to isn't in quite as good a situation.

We can't start letting the tabloids cherry pick their images and give us their provocative interpretations of body language. That really is playing into their hands.

That's not the point he's making though - he's just saying that if you've just been told you're not good enough at something, chances are you won't be smiling about it.
Sure it's hardly the end of the world for him, but it's a bit humbling and possibly embarrassing. We can't judge his feeling on a few stills, or few seconds of footage. I bet I could photograph any match going fan over the course of a match and make them look mad / sad / angry / upset

There doesn't have to be ayn reason why, it just has to be whatever Pep decides. Pep is the manager and does not have to justify himself to you or me or Joey Barton or Joe Hart, he just has to get results and get them quickly.

That said, Kolarov is probably a lot closer to being a Pep style centre-back than Joe is to being a Pep style goalie. Also if you look with your eyes you can see Kolarov is doing what is asked of him, and clearly Joe is not willing or able to. He cannot pass the ball out from the back, and is not willing to even try if the friendlies are anything to go by.
