Hart is hugely overated, he provides the bare essentials of a goal keeper. The trumpet is blown about him because he's English. He is simply better than any other English keeper. He may improve, or he may not, at the moment I would put Cech, Reina, Van Der Sar, Howard and Gomez ahead of him. THe one redemming issue is his age, which he has over all the keepers mentioned. He's avery quiet keeper, in that he the doesn't marshal the defence strongly enough. Strange, as he's first choice on merit.

For real? do you go to the matches? i do and all i can hear is joe shouting his mouth off to the defence my god howard and gomez?

You need to stop drinking your bong water.

oh diddums, can't argue the point so you resort to the security blanket of insults. The proof of Hart's ability is the lack on interest from any of europe's top clubs. If he was so great (which he isn't), or had huge potential (when he only has some) he would have gone, way before the current owners arrived. The aforementioned keepers, are all better and over the next 5 years Hart will be gone and although he might still be Englands fiirst choice, he won't be Citys.

Although I would like Joe to be dropped for a few games, the statement above is clearly rubbish!

The look on Joes face in the interview on the City site shows he knows he was at fault for the goal. He has lost a bit of his confidence and I would guess that Mancini and the goalkeeping coach have had a word with him after the game. I would guess there will be a change made for the next game in goal.

Hope not; we need consistency down the spine of the team. Hart stays in goal, and Given as back-up. Simple. I remember VDS dropping (geddit? dropping? Never mind!) a real clanger earlier this season (Baggies at the swamp?) and the dark lord stuck by him. Hasn't done them too much harm.

Jimi its not just 1 mistake its now a number of mistakes he has made so far this season. A change to the keeper wouldnt be as bad as people are making it out to be. Given last year played with Kolo and Kompany in front of him along with Zab who should be our right back. It would only be Kolarov who hasnt played many games with Given.

Thats not proof at all.

1. How do you know some of Europes top clubs aren't watching Joe?
2. Joe recently signed a new contract at the club, probably on a salary that most clubs wont even entertain trying to match. That to me says the club are curerntly very happy with Joe, ala the new contract, and that Joe is happily tied to this club for the forseable, practically taking him off any transfer radar.

Also Manchester United have been linked with Joe in the past, unfortunately they are in the "Europes elite" category.
And finally, I cant post the link as I cant remember where the article came from, and I am crap at compter stuff, but recently Mancini was in the I talian press talking about how much everyone at the club rates Joe, and how he thinks he will be as good as Buffon, and then went on to say, he wouldn't try to buy Buffon, as he didn't need him.

We still stay with him, end of. I know you want Given in, with him being irish. Fair enough; I have no problem with that. All I want is the best long term prospect to be in the side and getting used to playing behind our (so-called) defence.

I find it interesting that Joe is getting all the stick for the goal, but if some peoples MOTM Kolarov* had been quicker off the mark, the ball would have been easily cleared for a throw in or a corner.

* Kolarov had a great game btw, just making the point.

Agreed. That, and Silva's sloppy pass to KT. Also, who was supposed to close down the Villa player (Young?) taking the original shot?
