Joe Hart or Willy Caballero

I think this is one position we don't need worry about and for a long long time. He's proved himself and hopefully the signing of Caballero is like Pantilimon and just there to back him up. He'll need a rest and hopefully this year's will come with less attention (ie. not with pressure to do so following a blip). All players have bad moments and for me Saturday wasn't one. He could have done better, but the team overall should have done better. His record for one-on-one is excellent and this was a rare one that got through.

We've got England's number 1. He's played a huge part in the most successful period in our history. His behaviour on and off the pitch is exemplary, he's confident in his own ability, he's still got a long career ahead of him and you can tell he's up for a battle for the shirt and to fight for the cause. He's a great image for the club and any other team in the country would want him in their 11.

I can't help but compare our progression to that of other teams and often you see the same man between the sticks for periods of dominance. Long may it continue for City and for Joe.

A bit harsh on Joe lets be honest he shouldnt of been beaten on the near post but t happens we have seen it time and time again with a keeper getting nutmeged to score a goal. I look at Kolarov and Fernandhino 1 of them should of took him out of the game and taken a yellow card simple take 1 for the team. So it was a mistake from a number of players in not doing a job to stop the lad he took the goal well in fairness to him.

Fern had already been booked so would have been off,no him or fernando for our difficult games coming up.Kolo should have taken one for the team before the scorer got to fern so it wouldn't have been the last man red card
Shitty defending all round, joe should not take the blame

I didn't even have to read this thread to know Hart would be getting the blame for the goal. The usual muppets in attendance plus a few new ones as well.

Has anyone picked up on the aimless cross from Silva that led to the breakaway in the first place.

It was a well taken goal, end of!

Well said mate!! I was at the game and at the time I thought Ferni should of taken a Red but he didn't get near him to be fair watching later on the TV!!! Sometimes teams score good goals against us!!

In that position the striker should be favourite to score every time.

the critcs of joe hart include roberto mancini and manuel pellegrini--two managers who know what is expected of a consistently top class goalkeeper.
but what do they know, maybe they are muppets too...?
simple fact is joe has not improved .he has gone backwards.

That'll be why they dropped him and sold him then will it?

MB. Nothing personal but............

Your assertion that we have Englands number 1 suggests greatness. Sorry mate, but England are crap.
He has played a huge part of our success, but he has also (as others) have cost us at times
His behaviour during this off season in a pool with smoking rags, exemplary - doubtful
He is confident in his ability, which every keeper needs to be, but IMO he sometimes becomes over confident
He is youg and has time on his side to improve
Doubt Chelsea would pick him over Courtino (spelling)

I'm not knocking you or Joe (he is a very good keeper), but I do feel there are better out there who are less error prone.

All IMHO

You're entitled to your opinion and I'm happy to debate this one...

Your point about him costing us at times could be, as you said, labelled at anyone. Kompany's error at Liverpool is the perfect example of this.

His behaviour off the pitch that I spoke of was in relation to his professionalism and how he handles the media. All I know is he's an honest, hard-working kid who keeps himself to himself and I don't have an issue with him socialising with other millionaire footballers.

Over-confidence? He's not yet turned up wearing a blindfold. He believes in his ability. Apart from the Head & Shoulders adverts I can't actually think of what you could be referring to. And if it's that then he's going bald so give him a break for making the most of it...

Yes, England have been poor at tournaments of late but we've often qualified comfortably and the poor performances at the tournaments should have no reflection on Joe's performance nor the prestige being number 1 for England. It's always been something to be proud of. Bloody hell Southampton haven't stopped going on about how Fraser Forster is an England 'keeper and he's never realistically challenged for Joe's place. It's pointless arguing this because I'm only here to be positive about our club and at the end of the day having England's goalkeeper is only a good thing.

And yeah you've compared him to the 'keeper (Courtois btw) who, like all his Chelsea teammates after a whole 3 full games into the new season, is flavour of the month but for me there's little between them. The only 'keepers I think you could maybe put ahead of him are World Cup winners and probably never likely to leave their clubs. Neuer for his ability on the floor (how long that will last for though I don't know, there's a Higuita moment waiting to happen...) and Buffon for his years of experience.

Unless he miss hits it straight at the keeper, along the floor, very slowly. It was a great run but a well taken goal? No chance. Too many of our fans have a weak spot when it comes to Hart, mainly because of what he did 2 /3 years ago. His current form wouldn't get him in any other team who's competing for the league. One or two great saves here and there seems to be enough for some, when the truth is his overall game hasn't been good enough for a while.
