Joe Hart or Willy Caballero

Joe is without doubt a great keeper but his increasing arrogance will be his undoing.
I laughed like a drain over this post ! He is very probably the least arrogant person in the team. Maybe you are so used to looking at your subbuteo men you fail to see real class when you see it !

The defence was poor for the goal, but Hart wasn't brilliant.

A top keeper, Neuer and Courtiois, would have saved that. That can be the difference at this level and a top keeper is so important.

Hart's good, but he's not world class - I think it's time to accept that. I think Cabellero is on a similar level as Hart too.

Hart's a brilliant shot stopper, but his decision making coming off his line and his distribution is nowhere near good enough.

Remind yourself of Neuer at the World Cup and wonder if Totti would have scored that last night. No chance. That's the level we want to be at, right?

Fine, so who do we sign? The problem is there are 2 world class keepers out there and then lots of very good ones, Hart falls into the very good category and, like the rules or not, he's homegrown, there's not a better option out there.
I would say he falls into the category 'OK' rather than very good.
IMO there are many better keepers in the Prem and the Championship - De Gea, Courtois ,Krul, Begovic, Guzan, Marshall (Cardiff) to name but six, the last three fall into the very good category and could be realistic transfer targets come the summer.

Ridiculous post as per usual. De Gea is currently getting slaughtered by the rag fans as he is making too many fuck ups and Krul has had one amazing game in his career where he saved everything but apart from that he also makes mistakes people on here slaughter Hart for. And as for Begovic, Guzan and Marshall that is just retarded saying they are an improvement on Hart. There are about two proper world class goalkeepers out there at the moment and we have 0% chance in signing them. I would never say Hart is one of the best in the world but he is miles better than some on here give him credit for. He slipped which is hardly his fault unless you are now criticising him for not getting a towel and drying the box and made some key saves that kept us in the game against Roma.

A quality post but I suspect you won't deter Len & others from their witch hunt.

At least some have some sense.

Kompany's fault & Hart could of done better.

But hey think we were lucky to get away with a draw.
Don't forget the lack of protection for the back four. Stats suggest that most goals come from approx three errors:

1. No holding midfielder picking up the 'floating' midfielder between the lines.

2. Kompany forced to approach the floating midfielder after a split-second decision. In hindsight, the wrong decision.

3. Hart slip, more unfortunate than a clinical error.

In fact, you could even throw Demichelis being slow to come round and cover Totti's run into the equation.

I never criticized him for the Roma goal.
Maybe the case for Krul is arguable.
Aerial ability and distribution are still Joe's major "areas for improvement".

I can only assume you've literally never seen Krul play if you think he's an improvement on Hart in either of those areas.

He isn't an improvement in those areas he's about the same, but his shot stopping ( particularly his reflex saves) is IMO better than Joe's which on balance arguably makes him the better keeper.

Joe Hart any day... Read a damning piece by Martin Samuel piece on the mail... Slating MP for resting Hart for hull... Can't say I disagree.. But I know where MP is coming from
