Joe Hart or Willy Caballero

The defence was poor for the goal, but Hart wasn't brilliant.

A top keeper, Neuer and Courtiois, would have saved that. That can be the difference at this level and a top keeper is so important.

Hart's good, but he's not world class - I think it's time to accept that. I think Cabellero is on a similar level as Hart too.

Hart's a brilliant shot stopper, but his decision making coming off his line and his distribution is nowhere near good enough.

Remind yourself of Neuer at the World Cup and wonder if Totti would have scored that last night. No chance. That's the level we want to be at, right?

Fine, so who do we sign? The problem is there are 2 world class keepers out there and then lots of very good ones, Hart falls into the very good category and, like the rules or not, he's homegrown, there's not a better option out there.
I would say he falls into the category 'OK' rather than very good.
IMO there are many better keepers in the Prem and the Championship - De Gea, Courtois ,Krul, Begovic, Guzan, Marshall (Cardiff) to name but six, the last three fall into the very good category and could be realistic transfer targets come the summer.

I'll give you Courtois. De Gea is benefiting hugely from being busy again and is still making mistakes that Hart would be slaughtered for on here. The rest would be huge gambles and as I said, like it or not he's homegrown and that's a massive issue for our squad atm.

Didn't chelsea conceded a lot of goals with cortouis recently (i only remember the everton-chelsea one)? What about last year cl final where atletico madrid conceded 4?
I don't understand why manchester city fans are so hellbent in bringing down our own player, which has no immediate replacement (krul, really?)

I think it's more important to get mangala settles in. I've never been so sure of our defence until chelsea match. That's the first time we don't look like shitting our pants in a counterattack.

I said Hart isn't world class, but the idea of replacing him with Guzan or Marshall is ridiculous.

I don't think we can afford to replace him as he's homegrown - I was just stating he's a good, not great, goalkeeper.

I agree on this - he isn't world class, he really isn't. Average distribution and being weak on one side means he's always going to fall short.

With that said, I want him to sign a new contract and stay. And the reason isn't because he's long-serving and English but that right now, there are no obvious choices on the market that would provide a major upgrade. We don't want a 10% or 20% upgrade, the only reason for replacing Hart would be a Neuer appearing on the market. And that isn't happening at the moment.

Personally, I think we should play Willy in the Champions League and Hart in the league. Willy is a quicker and better distributor. Champions League games are so tight and tactical that your best chance can sometimes be thwarting an opposition attack and hitting them FAST on the break before they recover and reform their lines. We fail to do this and one reason is Hart is not a keeper who excels at accurate long-range distribution. Willy is pretty good at this, at least in comparison.

So was Steven Gerrard.

And ? We aren't on about Gerard. Bit different aswell that was for the league
To me they both slipped under pressure.

I want my keeper to be further out than Joe's starting position, which I believe was his problem. When their attack sprang he reacted nervously. He doesn't deal well with the through balls or balls over the top because he fears them, and how to deal with them. He's no better at them now than he was 6 years ago.
