I hope it works out for him. Everyone deserves a second chance but I never thought he was a world-class keeper. Too many weaknesses for that. He did have some incredible games for us but then he’d commit some howlers in the next game, like away at Chelsea where he came flying off his line for a ball that the defence had covered and cost us a point in the last minute. And his performance in that game for England when we got beat by Iceland was a disgrace frankly.

Never paid much attention to his off the field persona. The bits I did read didn’t cast him in a great light but then an awful lot of footballers are far from role models.
It was what he produced on the pitch that I cared about and although he had some exceptional games for us I never thought he was as good as many other blues thought he was.
Far too many weaknesses to be considered one of the best and the last couple of years he’s been pretty dire.
All that said I wish him well. I’m just glad we can finally put him behind us.

You can put as many fucking dots as you like but it won’t change my opinion. The goalkeeper doesn’t win golden gloves awards by himself either.

Hope he gets his mojo back, he will always be one the lads who ushered in the new era and what an era it’s been, I liked his cocksure attitude on pitch persona and wouldn’t like to comment on the off pitch hubris which some posters on here like to beat him with. To me he’s the second best Joe as a keeper (close run), if it happens good luck Joe.

You can fucking spout off how he wasn't as good to you as others, that was your opinion, this is mine and my opinion won't fucking change neither, name me a better one we have had in recent times, you will struggle

He does direct the defenders though, team leader if you like so he gets the award,i'm sure the keepers value the only award there is for them to get

Thanks Joe. Big player, big personality, big winner. Fought like a lion for us, some outstanding games, Spurs, Borussia Dortmund, Messi pen save, Berbatov save in semi final, lots of occasions he won us points. The passion in his face when Gael runs towards him after us winning in 2012 will never be forgotten. Had a big feeling towards fans and will now hopefully see his career out with a few good years, apart from against us.

Everyone has their opinions but for a period Joe was ranked one of the top keepers in the wold and made some vital saves at crucial moments for us. I have no idea why but his decline started before Pep's arrival. He will always have a special place in most Blue's hearts as being part of the team that kick started our success after years in the wilderness. I wish him well.

I echo these sentiments

Irrespective of the differing opinions and reasoning associated with those opinions , he was a good player for City and as such I wish him well for the future.

Brave move to establish him again as the national team number 1.

City's best ever keeper by any measure of success.
