got to be the future england cap record holder, whats the record and who holds it?

Shilton I believe with 125 caps

Shilton would have had a lot more if the then England manager(can't remember who) hadn't insisted on picking Ray Clemence. Clemence was never in Shilton's league and imo wasn't as good as Corrigan.

i allways thought clemence was a better keeper than shilts prob because i never forgave shilton for letting one through his legs against scotland, 'happy days'

Or the one under his body against Poland in '73', but most on here aren't old enough to remember that.

My only criticism of Joe is his kicks, match in match out I reckon 70% of them end up as a throw in to the oppossition spurning possession away.
It's an area he needs to work on.
spot on Bluematt,at least 4 kicks ended up in a throwing for them, the rest of his game is excellent

England were spoilt for choice back then, even with the two first choices out we still had a world class keeper to come in and a decent back up. Makes you wonder why we only really have Joe Hart now.

Jan Tomaszewski was their goalkeeper, and your right he played a blinder, we hit the woodwork too many times to recall, and I believe the sub Hector even had a shot cleared off the line in the last minute. That game was the end of Sir Alf.

Back then most of the Division 1 keepers were British, unlike now where many are foreigners.
