He can play in cup competitions, much in the same way Pants has been doing.
When Pants has a wobble (if he does) this will give MP the chance to bring Joe back into the team for the league. If Pants turns out to be consistently brilliant then Joe has a problem but the club benefits anyway.
The manager has to act in the club's best interest at the end of the day, not individual's.

Don't know where they get this from. I should Pellers would tell the two goalies first and he has already sez he will decide tomorrow!

I can't believe Pellegrini would announce this more than 22 hours before kick-off.

This would send out a terrible message, IMHO. Teams should only be made public at the announcement of the teamsheet.

I hope the club are giving him as much support as possible because the media are going to be all over him especially next time he plays.If we lose tomorrow then the shit will really hit the fan,I feel very uneasy with this although i can see why the decision has been taken

The media won't be all over him now he's out the side. But they would have been if he was playing tomorrow. That maybe part of the rationale behind this decision.

He won't give a damn about a little photo of him laughing on the bench on the third from back page of one of the papers. He would give a damn if there was a photo of him letting one through his legs taking up the entire back page of every paper in England.

Relax. We will only know whether this was the right call for City at the end of the season.
