Correct decision if he's dropped. Well done MP for making a brave decision....and to Hart consider this a kick up the arse and get back to your best .... you've got competition now.

How does he get back to his best if he isn't playing?

How does Costel show he's better than Joe if he isn't playing?

If the rumours are true, then that's fantastic.

It would set a terrible precedent if a player is in such poor form (not even sure form is the right word at this point), yet can keep their place.

If you play well enough, you should generally be rewarded with a start. For similar reasons, Dzeko should start Sunday.
JEsuschristNO! Dzeko should never start!

He can play in cup competitions, much in the same way Pants has been doing.
When Pants has a wobble (if he does) this will give MP the chance to bring Joe back into the team for the league. If Pants turns out to be consistently brilliant then Joe has a problem but the club benefits anyway.
The manager has to act in the club's best interest at the end of the day, not individual's.

Some very obtuse humour in that last paragraph.

Play well enough
Dzeko?
SUNDAY?

I can't believe Pellegrini would announce this more than 22 hours before kick-off.

This would send out a terrible message, IMHO. Teams should only be made public at the announcement of the teamsheet.

I hope the club are giving him as much support as possible because the media are going to be all over him especially next time he plays. If we lose tomorrow then the shit will really hit the fan,I feel very uneasy with this although i can see why the decision has been taken

The media won't be all over him now he's out the side. But they would have been if he was playing tomorrow. That maybe part of the rationale behind this decision.

I assume he will be on the bench so lots of shots of him no doubt and photo's of him in the sunday's

He won't give a damn about a little photo of him laughing on the bench on the third from back page of one of the papers. He would give a damn if there was a photo of him letting one through his legs taking up the entire back page of every paper in England.

Relax. We will only know whether this was the right call for City at the end of the season.

He hasn't. One of the players has leaked it. No big deal.

I'd be more than happy for him to be playing Sunday

If that's the case, then it's bloody disgusting.

If the perpetrator is found, he should be heavily punished.

Agree with the decision to drop him and also with DD's assessment here. Although I suspect that had this happened last year you would have used this as a stick to beat Mancini with. Leaks in the dressing room show that the manager has lost the dressing room, sign of poor team morale etc etc.

Good call by Pellegrini, had to be done. Joe's a big man, in every sense, and he needs to spend some time on the bench, get some distance from what's going on on the pitch, look and learn, and generally get his head sorted. However, he must be given a chance to play himself back into the team, and that obviously means cup matches. Tricky question, then: who plays the CL? Can we really put Pants in for those games? I doubt it , myself.

Nobody leaked it!
People just noted that whereas it's usually Joe in goal for training b4 match day, it was pantilimon today. No drama. We knew this was gonna happen.

Presume you've been drinking or you are on a wind up?

Presser quotes are “Tomorrow we will see what happens about Joe Hart. It is a decision I have to take every week with the 22 players in the team. He’s a football player and is under the same pressure every week.”

“Even the players don’t know who will start tomorrow.”
