Joe, at present is what I'd categorise as a 'very good keeper'. He's not achieved Word-class status yet, but I wouldn't put that much expectation on his shoulders which most of the English media has continued to do over the past few years likening him to greats like Banks and Shilton etc and maybe he's bought into the hype. I'm not saying he's not a brilliant keeper, because on his day he can give any keeper a run for their money and we're lucky to have him but there has been a noticeable drop in form recently which needs addressing. However he's still young and has years to develop so it's nothing to fret too much over. Won the Golden Glove 3 years running so must be doing something right.

there isnt a chance he could have saved them. Moaning about nothing

we have the best keeper in the league, he could and should be the best keeper in the world in a few years how can anyone moan about him.

btw dotn get the kicking arguement, he hasnt kicked a ball out of play once from what I remember this pre season.

It's not the kicking out of play that's the problem, it's the kicking up the pitch.

i think hes getting better at that, I think we are gonna try and pass from the back more anyway. Dont really understand why anyone can moan about him though- seems like people are just finding things to whinge about in my opinion. I do think his form dropped last year, but so did everyones. I think he will come back strong this year

99.9% agree with you, just the 0.1% not sure about the kicking yet but he does seem to learn from his 'mistakes'. I think he is great but then I think all our players are great and it's time this season started because I am getting very impatient now!! So there :-)

Whoops, the 'so there' wasn't aimed at you, just at time and life in general, I am getting too impatient. Sorry.

Pants much better in the air which gives confidence to his defenders. Hope Pellers bites the bullet and makes Pants our no. 1 keeper.

so you would drop the winner of the golden glove for 3yrs,the one who has kept the most clean sheets and let the least amount of goals in for the guy who has played some cup games?

Seriously? You must be joking.

I think Joe will become the best Keeper in the World.

There is a fine line between arrogance and confidence. I often say in threads that he thinks he's better than he is. But one thing is for sure in five years time this lad will be awesome.

I suppose like in the "Ashes thread in the cellar" Joe Root now isn't quite experienced enough, but in 4 years time he'll be probably the best batsmen in the world.

The same goes for Joe in another 4 years he'll be easily the finest in the world.........and you know what he plays for us!!

in fairness he didnt do it on his own , he has had a brilliant back four , in front of him zabs,komps,lescott/nastasic,clichy are the best in the league and possibly europe , i think keepers like cech, mignolet and bergovic could have done a similiar job to joe last season , but he is still easily the best england keeper and the best at our club , he just needs a kick up the arse , to get him back to the world class displays he showed when we won the league.
