Time to be called to account, Mr Hart. Stick on a few videos, both negative and positive, and ask him to explain his actions, whether that be to the goalkeeping coach or to the manager. If he admits his mistake with some of the clangers, then this can be worked on. However, if he maintains that it was someone else's fault for his rushes of blood, then there is a serious problem, whether that be over-confidence, ego or what. Compare the good saves with the gaffs - what decision-making process did he go through to choose one response over the other? (I'm aware that there's little time to make a decision, but other professionals manage to choose the right response!)

For me, Joe seems to have lost a lack of situational awareness and reading of the game. Some of his one-on-one, 'let's make a starfish-shape', have worked in the past, but many now seem to be a panic reaction and a crossing of the proverbial fingers, rather than a decent keeper's reaction. Is he actually closing his eyes? There's been so much discussion about Chelsea's second goal, but where was his anticipation that didn't even seem to see Schürrle's approach until after the ball was on its way in to the net? (I'm writing this based on one viewing on the telly, as I was too livid to watch any replays.)

Right. That was my two-penn'orth.

My biggest concern in all of this is that Joe is not going to be replaced by Pants because Pants has gotten significantly better but rather that Joe has gotten considerably worse.

In all honesty, I'm not too worried about Costel playing in goal. I think he'll do fine. I'm more worried about Joe being so shit right now. What happened. Where's his head gone? Will he ever sort himself out?

I do think it's time to give Hart a break. I don't think Pantilimon is the better choice overall (like some on here), just the better choice at the moment. Let Joe sort his head out on the sidelines. It will do him some good to be humbled sitting on the bench for a couple of games. When he does get back in, he'll be out to prove to everyone why he's England's number one. If he doesn't...the he gets dropped again.

That bumptious twat Darren Lewis on ITV saying he'll be "dropped"for tomorrow nights game.
Prediction of the century; second keeper gets cup games, like under Mancini...

Apart from the cup final my guess is that he hasn't played a cup game for nearly two years.

MP played our bench that night so please let's not get economical with the facts.

Pantillimon played against Wigan and was always going to play against Newcastle, the gutter press are trying to portray it as Joe dropped as we new they would. Fucking slimeballs like Darren Lewis from the mirror cannot wait to jump on us, he talks as if he's got a mouthful of food and comes out with so much bull, go and find a real story to report on you condescending piece of shit.

It a funny thing with keepers. Look at him body language and you will see - he is soooooooo low on confidence. He doubts himself and that is the core of the problem. He has not become a worse keeper. He has been knocked down and I for once think he will never climb up. At least not in this club. Mentally he is not good enough. But who do you get instead? I would love to get Neuer, but that will never happen? Casillas? Still decent but hardly a world beater any more. It will be interesting to see who are we going to get. There is no doubt in my mind that we will get a keepers in January transfer window.

Pants was always going to play tonight. But I've come to the point to let him stay in goal up until Newyear and see if Hart is ready to return unless Pants turns out to be a top-top goallie. Dount he's better than Hart as he would have gained his place earlier, but I think there's very little betweeen the two and Pants always performed very well for us when playing. It's an unfortunate and unforseen situation tbh.

Its sad for Joe but I fear you are correct if we make a move for a new keeper in the coming transfer window then Joe is history. He will need to leave and find a new club to try and resurrect his career. His England place will also come under serious pressure in the not to distant future and his fall from grace may still have a longer way to go. I hope he is dropped (and not 'rested') for his own sakes. To take him out of the firing line and so he can have time to reflect on where and how he needs to put things right and then hopefully come back stronger. However he now has a reputation for dropping clangers which he is unlikely to shed - just like David James. A very good keeper (not great) but always with a major clanger in him waiting to happen.
And its sad to think not so long ago against Dortmund at the Etihad one night he put in a truly breath taking, world class performance to single handedly stop us from being on the wrong end of what would have been a very severe and hugely embarrassing result with 6 or 7 genuine brilliant saves.
Just where did it all go wrong for him?

His decision making has certainly been a massive problem recently, all keepers make mistakes with many getting away with them, Joe is having a bad run for sure and being punished.
I sincerely hope some of the stuff you read about being cocky and full of himself is not true but might explain why he is not learning from his mistakes,

Paddy Barclay on the paper review thinks Hart "is over confident"...

And I think Paddy Barclay is a first class twat...

Both his and mine are just opinions and probably not really true...

Hart is just going through a dip in form... as all players do.
