Joe Hodge

Looks like a good player, I worry that he may just not have that physical edge to his game. He reminds me a lot of Jack Byrne and Aleix Garcia, he has more "bite" to his game then them but they were similar deep lying players with a good pass and eye for space on the pitch. Needs a loan move in the next 2 seasons.
Jack Byrne was a comparison i made too,but i think joe just has this more quality and composure to his game.He reminds me of Kante in many ways.

I don'y fancy him going on loan,i think he can learn more here and, given we are struggling in his area of expertise, the opportunity to progress is here too.

What impressed me most about Joe Hodge on Monday was his off ball work. Obviously all the lads on the pitch for both teams had ability, but Hodge was always there sweeping up, rarely goes to ground and does the basics extremely well. I think because of his size and position he plays we will have to be patient, but there's no doubt he has the potential to be a fantastic midfield player

I don’t think size is a hinderance at all.

As @FantasyIreland mentions above, you only have to look at Kante to see that smaller DMs can have big (even game-changing) impacts.

I was actually thinking the other day that a Rodri-Hodge sort of midfield partnership (for this thought experiment they both reach their generally expected potential) would be incredibly helpful in open, attacking matches with the top sides (so especially in the CL), as their skills and physical attributes complement each other rather well and would provide a formidable grip on midfield / shield of the defence.

His size will not be a problem,he is very sturdy and well balanced,he carries himself brilliantly and has a terrific presence. In that respect he reminds me of Dennis Wise.

The City player he reminds me of is Neil McNab during his later period when he was shepherding the 1986 FA Youth Cup graduates when they broke through into the first team.

Compact, neat with a good pass and some grit - looking forward to seeing him progress.

Has joined Derry City on loan
Not quite done by all accounts but it would ensure 1st team starts despite his youth and lack of experience. Seems to be a bit low level maybe?

Edit: they don't start the league until the 2nd half of March so he's got a wait yet.
