Barton was usually one of the better players in most teams he played at. Good right peg, able to play wide and create, a threat at set pieces, probably the best technician in the Newcastle midfields he played in.

Absolute arsehole though. So unsurprising he doesn't get appreciation he may have deserved for playing side, because of his off the pitch, disciplinary issues and delusions of being a modern philosopher/prophet.

I'm looking forward to him getting the boot at Rovers.

How wrong for any young player or any player worth his salt to do that to the club live on the radio ?
Barton was the problem, average at best, lost his head more than Worzel Gummidge,

Everton and Bolton were 5th and 6th because they didn't have the likes of Barton at their clubs.
MANCHESTER CITY were a club that was rotten to the core long before the likes of Barton and every city fan knew it,
we were loyal and understood that our club was never going to be a main club, unless we did a Chelsea and get rich owners to buy the club, we had to buy players at the pound shop or the reduced to clear yellow stickers at one of the major stores to just keep our heads ups above water, its football ?

we were happy to just plod along with that dare to dream, in fact we were doing OK with staying up, getting them 40 points each season, the new stadium was starting to feel like home, But them boardroom troubles started up again and the infighting start all over again,

I will say that the like's of Barton and his dodgy agent Willie McKay were a bad image for football, never mind Manchester city,
