Twitter can be really good, if you use it the right way and follow people who are interesting for you.

When I joined it many years ago I did follow a lot of footballers, Barton being one. I didn't stop following him straight away, because if you only follow those with the same views as you, you can end up with an echo chamber that messes with your head in a different way. However, I've recently stopped following him because he doesn't deserve the air. He's just trying to stoke people's anger, to make himself more money. I don't want to be a part of that.

Exactly the same with me and Barton. Unfollowed him after his first rant about pundits. Followed him before to see how he was doing managing League 1/2 teams.

It’s really easy to create what you want from your timeline. The For You one will show you opposing stuff too, so as you say, to stop it being an echo chamber, you can dip into that occasionally.

Joey Barton is an intelligent man who is well academically qualified. Like myself, growing up working class with a brain was almost a hindrance. However, my family aren’t cunts.
