Sheesh, just because he's not a glamour name. Carew would be a very good signing. Averages almost 1 goal in 2 games and has lots of assists. Proven Premier League player. At the very least a great squad player.

And he'd be no cast-off. O'Neill loves him. As do Villa fans. My one worry would be his injury record.

i think you should. he's the sort of player stuart pearce would be targetting when he was here and obviously circumstances were different. admit it, if hughes signed michael owen, rsc and louis saha and fucking darren anderton you'd still back his judgment.

Unless I'm mistaken did Villa not get in the one and only Emile Heskey to replace Carew. I genuinely hope this is sky sports chatting the usual bullshit. Nobody can deny he is decent but we need to show more imagination in the market, with the unlimited funds at our disposal I would be underwhelmed next year to start with Carew and Bellamy upfront (if of course they are not injured).

Just what we need- big target man that's already adapted to premier league. Villa were doing really well first half of the season (top 4) when they had carew and agbon up front then as soon as they signed heskey in jan, it went down hill for them as carew was no longer first choice. Good signing potentially
