And yet with Vincent and Otamendi we looked far more solid. You've used no sample size to throw a wild claim and have nothing to back it up with.

Genius.
I've no sample size either - just an impression.

Otter's biggest problem is that he's hyper aggressive - diving into tackles, making unnecessary challenges upfield.

Stone's biggest problem is consistency - playing a good/great game - and then makes a huge, huge blunder - no look pass straight to the opposition or some sort of miss-hit pass - again straight to the opponents. These gaffs are very severe - most often leading to an immediate scoring opportunity for our opponents. And the worst thing is that Stones seems to make these daft plays once per game - maybe gifting our opponents between 1/2 to 1/8 goals every time he starts.
=====================
Under Kompany, Otters has settled down - not making daft challenges - perhaps because he trusts Kompany.

Under Kompany, Stones.... we'll I actually have no idea. But those bonehead, moments - are maybe not at all due to whom Stones is paired with - maybe it's just something currently intrinsic to Stone's game - e.g., keeping total focus and concentration throughout the full 90.
====================
This I do know - Pep has seen both Otters and Stones over a long period of time both in practice and in match games. If Stones isn't preferred over Otters when Kompany is fit.... then there's a good reason for this - Pep rates Otters over Stones.

I just think Otamendi is better suited to playing alongside Vincent Kompany at this point. Stones will get there.

You forgot to mention Stones running away from strikers to the point where he's almost on his own goal line. I'm all for defenders jockeying players, I wish Otamendi would do it more, but Stones takes it to ridiculous extremes sometimes.

Yeah I honestly think it's making excuses to say Stones just needs a world class CB alongside him. Most of his problems have just been terrible individual defending by him, maybe a world class partner papers over the cracks a bit better, but he'd still be making the same mistakes. He needs to improve a lot

No one's making excuses, just an observation based on how much Otamendi seemingly improved with Kompany next to him and the fact that Stones hasn't had the benefit of that, yet. I think it's fair to suggest we may see a much more composed Stones with a leader beside him, like we have seen a much more composed Otter.

They both need guiding through matches. Probably less worrying for Stones with him being young, it's a real problem IMO for Otamendi at 29. Will be interesting to see Stones get a run alongside Kompany (fingers crossed and all that) and see whether he looks improved alongside him as much as Otamendi did at the end of the season.
