Directly from Pep’s mouth (though, how much is just for the media, we can never really know):

Massive season for Stones next year. 25 is too old to still be getting taken out of the team every time the opposition play a physical striker, might lump it long or Pep thinks the situation needs "personality".

not just the remaining games, but pre-season will be massive for John to start cementing the CB spot next to Laporte on a full time basis

The quality is there, just needs tweaking like pep alludes too

This season and last season have played out quite similar for Stones.

Outstanding, picks up an injury and then bobs in and out of the team and form.

His fitness is going to play a key part I think. It was exactly the same last season - from the beginning of the season until around the Christmas period, he's a key player in fantastic form, then picks up an injury and doesn't get back to that level for the remainder of the season (be that through lack of game time or not).

He was only out for about 2 weeks with injury this year...Pep just stopped picking him after.

His personal life seems to be a mess, or at least the bit that's hit the tabloid's, but it's hard to excuse that when you consider what Silva went through last season while still delivering his best.
