On March of the day they gave Gomez highlights that were almost as long as our match highlights. From what they showed, he looks a good young player but not in the same class as John. He was immense yesterday and so much more physical than last season. He has the ideal partner in Laporte as well.

I see in John Stones a more mature player. No longer a player we should be talking about having potential he has now reached the level where he is an experienced pro. He seems more concentrated on the match making him read the game better. He won the ball a lot yesterday in the air which JC is not so recognised for. He and Laporte looked so comfortable yesterday side by side they look like a fixture together for years to come. Well chuffed with his performance.

He has bulked up a lot since last year which is exactly what he needed. Remember Falcao and Firmino bullying him in seasons past. Don’t think that will happen anymore.

Stones and Laporte could well be the best CB partnership in the world in upcoming years.

Looks the business again this season. If he stays injury free expect to see him part of the first choice pairing from now on
Saying that we’re blessed right now (fingers crossed); Vinny injury free, Laporte looking the business and Otta not getting a look in despite being our best CB last season. Hard work picking the best two and keeping them all settled and motivated
Over to you Pep!

He was brilliant last night, fully committed yet incredibly composed.

The team starts ticking when he's on the pitch.
He really is a rock in any side he plays for.

I think Southgate and the England squad would benefit from him taking the captain's armband in a couple years or in time for Euro 2020. He's definitely mentally strong enough to keep his attention on the pitch, but be able to lead a squad out of a rough spot. It would also relieve Kane of the pressure of being the squad leader on top of the offensive leader.
