He played against villa although obviously not well enough to warrant a positive comment or poorly enough for abuse. Overall he was ok except for that howler of a pass under zero pressure.half way through his 6 year deal he's the Same john stones that we bought 3 years ago. Even under Pep he hasn't progressed at all.

I thought he did well for his first game in a while. Made one shit pass that put us under pressure but also made some good blocks and put his body on the line.

He has always been a confidence player. He needs to play every week to get going and believe in himself. With our injury problems I imagine he will be playing a lot in the next few weeks so he should hopefully be back to his best if he doesn’t get injured again.

Always considered his mistakes came in the first few games back from injury, so that performance i was very pleased with

Yup.

He wasn't overly taxed defensively yesterday but was definitely in the right place on a couple of occasions.

I think he is another one who just needs some game time to get fully up-to-speed.
And a settler partner.

Sadly, I agree with you. Three and a bit seasons under the best coach in the world and no discernable progress. He has talent but not the mental strength. Honestly, we should sell and replace.

I don’t agree.

I think he’s a cracking player, it’s his fitness that’s the issue. If he can just have two seasons injury free in a row, he’d be one of the best around.

When Kun comes back from injury he always takes a few games to get back into the swing. Stones has had a few injuries now but is expected to just slot straight in and be right on it.
