He'll be perfect with Ottamendi then - one of them will end up sat in the family stand trying to get behind the other

Otters won't be sitting anywhere. He'll be flat on his back somewhere within the confines of the pitch.

My ERO has been bewailing Roberto's towel throwing activities when it comes to the EFC defence. Whether it is an ageing one or one where attention has been focused elsewhere is a moot point, but he has been severely critical of Martinez in the same way a good number of City fans have of Pellers in seemingly not addressing the colander that has become our defence. The Sanchez goal yesterday was the most glaring example of how a defence shouldn't operate. Any FOCs in CBL3 who couldn't have scored that one when the defence parts like the Blue Sea? He won't have had an easier opportunity all fuckin' week in training.

I can’t believe the papers are still talking about £40-£50m for him. I would say at best he is a decent looking young defender but he has had some bad games and was completely out of place at right back! For a so called decent footballer why does his game go to pieces at right back? Is he any better than Van Dyke who is also young and Southampton paid what £14m for him? I think there is potential there but the price quoted and hype is well over the top. We should give Denayer a run well before we consider bidding at that level? Let Chelsea have him at £50m.

I can see us paying no more than 30 mil

He'd want to go plus he's not had the best of seasons

With our midfield severely lack any creativity then it is crucial we can have a CB who is good with the ball.

I think Stones would be perfect for us.

Stones is confident with the ball at his feet but is still unproven as a top PL defender. There is much more to being a top defender than just "confidence on the ball". Everton have been shocking in defence this season and have seemed especially vulnerable with Stones. Every time we do business with Everton, we get taken to the cleaners on transfer fees. Please don't spend excessively on unproven players.

thats why i think its more to do with martinez than anything else. Players like baines - one of the best defenders in the league have been crap this year. Last season stones was very good at defending, so under the right manager i think he will be top.

Everton been much better defensively when stones hasn't played though...!! That's why we shouldn't touch him with a barge pole.
