I didn't actually give a opinion. I said that they don't know & would be gambling on him improving, if either was to sign him, which is true.

No way in million years would either sign Stones if they believed he was going to turn in the same performances as this season. Nor would Fat Sam or anyone.

The fee is based on what he might do rather than what he is doing.

I have no idea whether he will become the player they hope, & if we sign him, I would hope Pep is right. If Mourinho signs him, I would hope it's yet another of his transfer mistakes, to add to the huge catalogue of previous failures.

I just don't want to be replying to posts in 6 pages time, telling me I've said I'm a better judge of a player than Pep Guardiola, purely because I have an opinion, which would be seriously boring for me & is exactly how this stuff ends up.

Imo they deserve it.

There are very few quality central defenders in the current game imo, in fact defenders in general. That's how come Barca have a midfielder playing cb. There is nothing to say 'why not ?'.

They don't have a midfielder playing CB (or didn't, he's just left), they have a CB who is ball playing.

It's not FIFA or CL manager where your player is the position it says by his name.

What position would you say Lahm was? Do you think there is a lack of quality midfielders in Europe as a full back is playing in midfield?

Perhaps that's because the role of the defender has changed into a much more creative and attacking one and rather than scoring down the new wave of defenders on some outdated principles we should come to respect players like pique and boateng are at the vanguard of a new type of defender.

It's the same as when a full back gets slated for not being defensive enough even when that's not the main part of the job now.

I'm of the opinion that if both Pep and Josecunt think that Stones has the quality to sign for a title winning team and play first choice (which he would for his fee), then who am I to argue.

Do I think Bayern could improve on Lahm as a midfield player ? Dead right I do. Is he a clever player who has adapted well & done a good job ? Absolutely. Same as Mascherano.
