John Stones

Than you better watch the final again mate. As soon as Eder came on he gave Untiti all sorts of problems. Umtiti couldn't handle the psysical attribute Eder brought with him. Mangala has never lost a physical battle as long as I know him as a Cityplayer. Doesn't take away he needs improving other aspects, but you are -as usual- very fast with opinions.

Hi mate...was just stating that his national team manager put in Umtiti ahead of Mangala so must have felt he gave them a better chance of winning....overall Umtiti had a solid euros! My opinion was less about Mangala and more about "fact".....and fact was Mangala didnt get a game and Umtiti was ahead of him in the national team....but I'd agree...Umtiti didnt have a great final..

Not overly convinced about John Stones. He'd be a decent squad player, lot's of potential, great opportunity for him to develop under Pep etc but I can't help but think the likes of Tosin Aderabioyo could take that squad role instead of him. I know a few people on here will laugh at that, but, at some point we've got to start looking towards the academy.

If we sign him I'm hoping Demichelis leaves and if the proverbial finger isn't pulled out I'd hope Mangala is moved on earlier rather than later.

Umtiti had a poor final so thats only 2 games left in the Euros. Not sure you can say he had a great Euros then considering one of the games they played was Iceland and their defense shipped 2 goals to them. I don't even know why we are comparing Umtiti and Mangala when you started the debate about him and Stones.

Tosin gets a squad place for free anyhow. But he was very nervous on the ball v Chelsea so will have to work on that. Great prospect.

He'll be more than a squad player he'll be starting most games I'd say. He is a tailor made Pep defender. He is everything Pep wants from a CB which is why he's gonna be paying £50 million for him.

Re the Stones v Bumtitty argument & 'great work by Barca' did their own press not report that they tried to sign Stones first but believed we had him nailed on ?

Yes they did, well remembered.

Its because of reasons like this I am confident on Stones and Sane.
We don't seem to have any challengers for them. There has been the odd thing in gossip columns like United like Stones and Arsenal like Sane but nothing to the level we seem to be at.
Leads me to think we've got them boxed off.

Was replying to a poster that commented on Mangala's strengths....I only mentioned Mangala in the first place to show how much the french manager must have trusted Umtiti to play ahead of Mangala.....The only point I was trying to make is that Barca did a good bit of business getting him....Long term I feel Stones has better potential tho...

Dunno, theres def potential. On grand old team theres bucket loads of salty tears over it. He's gone form the best defender in europe to the new rodwell and lescott lol.
One poster says he should stay and if koeman buys 2-3 good players they will be on par with us!!!!!!!

Demichelis has been released. If Kelechi can come through alongside Aguero, then other players can too
