Messi played on the right for quite a while with Pedri on the left. Ribery, Robben, Costa and Coman have been used on either wing. The width comes from holding your position rather than sticking to the right if you're right footed and visa versa.

They all played with attacking natural full backs though. Stones at right back is not going to be a comparable wide attacking force to Dani Alves or Phillip Lahm.
 
Yeah I suppose that's the part I don't agree with. I doubt we'll see much of Stones (if he joins) outside of a central position.

Definitely not, if his biggest strength is his passing you play him in the centre where he's got as many different avenues to play the ball into as possible, not out wide where he'll have a maximum of 3 options as opposed to 8.

Yup, I can't see it happening unless our other options at RB aren't available. It would just nullify his main strong point.

Edit: I've pretty much just repeated what you said without realising it.
