the sale of stones will not mask over the extent of which everton as a club are so distant from the football elite. the infrastructure of the club has to be right first, and there is a lot of work to be done on and off the field. stones and lukaku will leave for certain and we will only have 4 weeks in which to replace them and a few others. progress will not be rapid and over the next few seasons we may see the results or stagnate as is the norm. commercially we have to improve , and can see a few seasons of turmoil

You're right about the infrastructure needing to be right before real progress can be made. Personally I believe with so many premier league clubs upgrading or moving into new stadiums recently, one of Everton's biggest headaches is Goodison Park, they need to move to a stadium that warrants world class players and corporate tickets if they're thinking of challenging the 'elite' clubs. I also think they need to upgrade their facilities, but I believe Liverpool council are set to invest a few million quid soon into Everton's training ground?

i think you will do well under koeman. its hard for any club to compete now without a load of money. last season being the exception. I've been very impressed with some of your younger players especially tom davies, looks a fantastic prospect.

Aww come on shack - everytime I start disliking Everton fans again you pop up and remind me there's still some good ones about!

I don't think the other Evertonian @efcblue i think?? deserved what he got earlier in the thread, it was uncalled for. What's wrong with a supporter believing they can progress with some decent investment? Or believing his club will hold out for their valuation of Stones?

I've no idea what happened earlier, I've not been on most of the day. He can believe what he wants about his club, he just comes across as somebody who takes himself to serious.

He is a good poster, I hope he's not been getting stick.

My argument is that EFC have known for 12 months that he wanted out but instead of sorting out a good deal with City and getting a replacement in, they've dragged it out for a few more millions. But what use is millions in the bank when the fans want players on the pitch. They'll either end up pricing him out of a move, in which case they will have an unhappy player, or they'll end up selling in August and having to replace him at the last minute. It does seem now that they are firing off a few bids so perhaps this is coming to a conclusion. I thought it notable that the players they have been linked to are in their 30s. These don't strike me as long terms signings that they have been thinking about for 12 months but an instant response. This is why I think they would have been better off being pro-active

Yeah, I wasn't referring to what he was saying regarding Stones or Everton's supposed stance on the transfer. I was merely pointing out @efcblue getting a hard time for standing his ground regarding what he thinks the fee for Stones will be, that and believing his club is on the up due to the recent developments at Goodison.

What are the chances of these new investors funding a new stadium? Surely that has to be the number one priority.

Everton have "allegedly" put in a bid for Fonté from Southampton, which looks like they are going to do business with us.
Sooner Pep gets to work on Stones, the better, if he can turn Piquè into a quality CB, imagine what he can do with Stones.

Look what he did with BOATENG! Thats why I can't wait to see what Stones can do.

Has there ever been a more divisive transfer on bluemoon? I haven't been following this thread at all but it's likely to get to 1,000 pages if it goes down to the last hours. @TRUE BLUE NO1 would you be so kind to as sum it up for me. Have we **somewhat** come to a consensus as if we want to bring Stones in? Or is it a massive split opinion?

I think it's pretty obvious Everton have us bent over the table here. I wonder how much hard negotiating there is left to do or if there are other factors playing in *IE they want Bony but need to see if anyone bites on their crazy valuation of Lukaku. We can't obviously know but it appears this one is going all the way to the end.

Top priority I agree but will only happen in tandem with the council
taking over Everton is a massive task as there is a huge amount of rebuilding to be done on and off the field. We have sold more season tickets than before and there is huge optimism amongst our fans but for how long do you tolerate those facilities or lack of. If successful on the pitch you would suffer the warm Chang and obstructed views but mid table it becomes less appealing. So much depends on the start we get. At home our support is as fickle as any and you watch the players confidence suffer because of this.

The most balanced post from an Evertonian that I can recall seeing in here
