Problem Everton will have is the cost of the new ground and the pay back. Don't care how rich your owner is - not going to be easy to compete with City, United, Liverpool, Spurs, Chelsea or West Ham. I just don't see you breaking into the top 4 easily.

The new people introduced at the top of the club have set a target. European football must be attained this season. Champions League football must be attained within three years, hence the three year contract.

It's not going to be easy for any club to get into the top four.

Bump this in 3 years - you wont be in.

City and Stones have not entered negotiations.

That's not the way things are done these days. Clubs contact the agents and find out if the player wants to come and what his wage demands would be. If both parties agree then the buying club makes an offer. It would be utterly stupid to enter negotiations with a club if they didn't know the player wanted to move. City have been in contact with Stones and he wants to come.

Skimmed through your post.

City and Stones have not entered negotiations. Everton have been contacted, City have been told to wait until after the Euros and that a lot of money will be required. Money is of no issue to Everton anymore, transfers are purely to dodge the slalom that is FFP. All this I know to be an absolute fact.

I was very hopeful of it a month ago. I was sure that Lukaku was going and Stones would stay.

Now, it appears as though the opposite is the case. Funny how things change. I assume Koeman has made a decision and deemed Stones expendable in order to improve the squad. I can see why he'd value a proven 25+ goal per season striker over a defender, but I would honestly prefer if we kept Stones; he has a high skill ceiling.

As I've said, the investment has made money no issue. The issue now is FFP and Stones' sale would allow Koeman to make the transfers he needs to improve the squad in the areas that need improvement.

To summarise what I said above, it is likely that Stones will be sacrificed for FFP, which is why you haven't been told "not for any price" but rather "wait".

It's not just Stones being away at the Euros which is delaying these negotiations. Koeman has a list of targets and the Euros are preventing him from negotiating for those players too. Once he can summarise who's available, who he can get and how much it will cost, any negotiations over Stones can begin.

After last season and Chelsea failed bids, I think there has been an agreement between Everton and Stones that if you didn't make top 4 and a decent enough offer came in, then you would reluctantly sell this time around!

On your theory of Lukaku looking the more likely to leave over Stones, I totally agree, in fact I though defence is an area you really needed to improve on. As I'm right in thinking you've got Jagileka at 33, Mori who seems very erratic and Stones! Even before Stones leaving aren't you in need of CB improvements!? Selling Stones would only make your clubs need for CB's even more crucial.

Bold is true. The rest is incorrect.

There's no agreement for Stones to be allowed to leave.

Cool stuff.

but evertons new guy is only an investor isn't he and not a new owner?
I think you have hit the nail there. He is an investor who can't inject his own money into building the team. He bought himself into Everton fully aware of this, at a time when the TV money is exploding. That's why I cannot understand why Everton's fans think this guy is going to be making any positive difference to their club. I saw someone on here saying that the new guy made money no object, but FFP is the object as it prevents Everton to invest more than the get as income. That logical inconsistency really says it all to me. Money is an object. IMO this is guy is there to ride the TV deal, and if anything he will take money out of the club.

A good post pal given some previous Evertonian posters on here, however I am struggling with the concept that money is no object, but FFP is the main consideration?

Now this you will need to expand on and explain because it's one of the most contradictory things I've ever read on here.
