John Stones

I agree, but unfortunately I don't agree that Stones is a top player, he's far from it right now. He lost his place at Everton last season, and rightly so. He also couldn't make the England starting eleven during the Euros, and in my opinion he was up against the two poorest centre backs England have played in a major tournament for many years. I would expect a 45-50 million player to be a regular at both club and country. 30 million for him would be about right in todays crazy market.

Fair point mate!;) I guess we willing to push our offer, for "Stones future potential" which is difficult to put a value on but if Pep feels he can make him a top CB in the prem, then 45-50mil would be a true valuation. cheers

Was just pointing out what Chelsea valued him at 12 month ago, obviously Everton would of seen it a lot more, eventually they turned down a 30m bid.
Could his value of doubled after the season he had?
For me he's a £35-£40m player,just opinion.
If we end up paying £50,£60 whatever million,I ain't really arsed.

Hi mate...I would agree that the premium on English players and the new tv money have added to his valuation over the last 12months. Players are only worth what clubs are willing to pay and as you rightly say, I dont worry about the cost, if Pep thinks he's worth it, thats good enough for me!;)

Higuain 95m Euros - This just proves the market has gone crazy and why realistically we will have to pay the man for our targets. If this year is bad price wise imagine next year when all the Premier league clubs have a second year of the new tv money. Do the deals this summer for the established players we need now and then rely on the young players we are buying, and the academy lads that are coming through, for the future. Let's not miss the boat like we did a few years ago and make sure we give Pep the players he needs to establish the next great dynasty in English football.

I don't agree.

This hasn't been dragged through the mud like Sterling, DeBruyne or even Stones to Chelsea last year. There's no vociferous fighting from Everton. They just want their valuation met, even if we have an agreement with the agent and the player.

I think we've wanted to downplay the money bags City angle by being cute and haggling but are now (hopefully) biting the bullet for the right players that improve our first XI.

I think it's finally the right call too, because it's a freak year, where Troy Deeney is having £30m bids thrown at him and Lukaku is valued at £65m. Everyone is moneybags, so we may spend a bit more but providing our scouting is up to scratch then it should look decent value in the end.

You mean it hasn't been done in the media. So any of us don't really know what exactly has been happening.
Yet certain posters (not you BTW) still find a way to use it as a dig at someone at the Club.

Really? What have you been smoking!!?

I agree mate...think the market/cost is only going to go up again over the next few years. If Stones/Sane are the 2 main targets, we need to just get it done! The way we doing potential loans deals for players like Jesus and Moreno, we might not have to jump head first into the transfer market next year...If both those players return after loan spells, it will be like signing new players next summer.

Exactly my point - take the short term hit and I am sure we will get the long term gain.
