Because £25m doesn't even get you Troy Deeney nowadays. That's the new reality. Everyone in the PL is so rich that it takes huge bids to buy anyone. And even overseas clubs know we've got the money, so they're not going to accept less.

That's not really an answer though is it?

Just because the market is inflated does not mean every player is worth an addition £10+ million.

EFCblue has already explained how this doesn't apply to some City players as he values Bony at less than £20 million. Which in essence is saying he is worth less than Deeney and Berahino despite a previous Blue proving that Bony has a better PL minute per goal stat than Lukaku.

So again I'm interested at why Stones who lost his place as a CB to Funes Mori and is behind Smalling and Cahill at CB for England is valued at a minimum of £50 million.

£50M is the new £30M people should really start to understand that. Pep wants him and Stones could have a career at City for 11/12 years. Just pay the money and get it done

It's simple really, Everton want as much as possible for him and we / Pep wants him enough over other options to be willing to pay £50 mill. If there was a cheaper option then we'd go for it, however we think he's the best option available with the best potential so that's his value to City.

Age and potential and the fact he is under contract and helps fill our required English club trained quota.

If we want him, we'll have to offer somewhere near what the Toffees want. If he's not considered being worth that amount by us, we'd be best moving on to other targets. As it stands Everton hold all the cards, I think this one is up to Stones to force the move to get his career moving in the direction he wants.

Maybe that is the figure Everton have put on him because a), they dont want to sell, and b), they have a club with who want to buy him.

Stones is worth what someone is willing to pay. If they have told us it will take 50, then we should just pay it if Pep wants him that bad. What I can't stand is when we match the requested amount and then it goes up again. Feel like thats what happened with Bruno Peres and the greedy/poor Italian clubs
