Not sure Tosin is ready, and what worries me is he lacks the actual footballing ability. Denayer and Mangala aren't good enough, so not signing Stones would be a huge disappointment for me.

"Actual footballing ability"

What does that even mean? It's a complete nothing of a phrase.

Tosin has always been praised for his ability and skill on the ball, if that's what you're alluding to, so you're simply wrong there. If he has a problem it seems to be concentration - pretty common for young CB's.

On what basis is Stones a saviour for us? He has shown very little that he is a key signing for us. I agree it would be disappointing not to sign a CB but Stones isn't a top CB and not is he worth the money requested. Bonucci yes, Stones no.

A simple change of tactics and defensive set up will bolster us.

So true

Stones will be absolute dynamite mate. He possesses every attribute that Pep requires his defenders to have. Bonucci is a pipe dream.

I don't think we are going to see a dramatic change of tactics more the proper application of work needed to get the best out of our set up. Pep's and Pellegrini's sides aim for similar things but Pep's teams seem to do the hard graft needed to make the game plan work.

We are going to press more, we're going to prepare more for each team we face and hopefully we work hard on our set pieces.

My concern is less about our defence more what's in front. Out back four (or back 3 when Kolarov was ambling back) was regularly exposed as there was little to stop runners coming through. How often did our centre halves and either Fernando or Fernandinho face 4 man counters?

If our midfield and forwards do their jobs this should be a far less regular occurrence. I would have concerns as to whether Yaya can press as effectively as we will need our midfielders to.

Footballing ability is his ability when in control of the ball. He looks like a rabbit in the headlights.

I would say this about Stones

Not knocking you as I rate you as a poster, but the above is wishful imho.

Stones will be dynamite, said like a wishful prophecy. I like Stones passing, I like his confidence and I like his composure. But he is so unproven its untrue, he is coming off the back of a bad season and didnt even push his way into the starting eleven for a piss poor England defence, yet costs 50m. Walk away!!!
