No idea mate, but I imagine deals worth circa £50m are reasonably complex. Plus you've got to factor in the Euros, Everton getting a new manager etc. I'm sure the club are a bit calmer and more patient than some on here!

yeah I guess so mate. the transfer forum junkies need a signing though!! ;-)

If we get 10 years out of him as a first choice centre back, the fee will prove to be money well spent.

The rags got 10 years out of ferdinand after paying a record fee. Nobody questions his fee (although they're not ruining football, obviously)

Would be delighted if he turns out to be half the player Ferdinand was.

Having "faults" hardly deserves the tag of "shit" though does it?
Plenty player have faults.

I recon we would describe most players who are rated as Everton's 4th choice cb, to be fairly shit tbh. But it's not a signing based on recent performance, it's a signing based on the opinion of experts, that they can make him into an absolute top player, & he's English so can be part of that quota.

If he was 29, we wouldn't even consider signing him. It's purely about what we think he can become.

We gave Pep the job on trust in his ability & we have to assume he's likely to be correct.

He will however, get some decisions horribly wrong. All managers do. But he'll get more right & any transfer of anyone is just a gamble.

The main thing that baffles me about this that his asking price has gone up/remained the same after having a shit season
TV money/Chinese throwing wads about.

Look at Deeney being valued at £30m plus. Ighalo at 40m etc

And how do we know it's gone up? They turned down £40m last season.

I don't see it with Stones, never been particularly impressed by him. But plenty of people think he might go on to be great, so if we do get him I'll just sit back and wait and see. Hopefully they're right and I'm wrong.

Don't care about the price because if he reaches the heights some think he will be capable of it will be a bargain.

I like the idea of all our transfers being rounded up (Sterling) or down (KDB) to £50m. Keeps things simple.

I wonder if eventually Fernando will go and we'll have 3 central defenders on the pitch with 1 going into midfield and the others covering the flanks. I could see Kompany, Stones and Otamendi rotating in this 3 until they settled into the best combination. But I'm dumb on here so don't listen to me (technically that makes no sense but I am pretty stupid).

He easily has the talent. He is the most naturally gifted CB England has produced since camel gob.

Yeah, long way to go but would be very happy if we sign him. As you say he's got the natural talent and would have the perfect manager to develop under.

You beat me to it, people keep quoting he'll cost £53mill and then complain that we haven't put a bid in yet. I'd request folk to actually think before posting but that's never going to happen really.

Just for the record I'm going for a total fee of £44mill.
