John Stones

Ahh the old 'don't dare question Pep' routine, yet again

If it wasn't for Garcia's suitors, Barca, Pep would have the award for 'Shittiest defensive performance in the Champions League'.

I would remind you, that it was Pep, not me, who brought in John Stones, for all the reasons he's now been dropped, for Garcia, including his 'intelligence' & ability on the ball.

And exactly where is this 'intelligence' ?

Garcia was singled out on tv as 'amateurish' in his last game but because Pep picked him, some are going round in circles, trying to excuse it.

If Stones had turned in the exact performances as Garcia, in each game, people would be crucifying him & using it as an example of why he's finished at City.

He is ruining Laporte's game too.

I wrote only a few posts ago that Pep bought Stones as a long-term right-sided centreback. Obviously it hasn’t worked out the way he imagined, and that’s why they’re looking at a new CB.

Garcia reads the game and position himself a lot better than Stones, that’s where he’s intelligent. On the other side you have Stones not engaging at all, he put in reverse and backs into his own penalty area and then make a lame last second attempt to block the ball.

I never judge a player from a single game, not Stones and not Garcia. Garcia was not very good against Lyon but what I’ve seen from him this season is a lot better than what I’ve seen from Stones over the years.

And PEP AGREES. Our own manager thinks Garcia is a better central defender. And you think he can’t identify talent?

Difference being Messi's on and off pitch performance would actually increase the cash flow. Stones doesn't contribute on or off the pitch. I don't get how anyone could possibly make that comparison!

I think the financial outlay in order to make Messi a possibility would require quite a lot of "creative" financing. I'm not sure how you think keeping Stones would be in any way a problem. Especially not when you consider we've already lost Sane, Bravo and David. That's about £600k a week off the books and I'm pretty sure Ake, Torres and any other incomings aren't going to eclipse that. Especially not when you consider that it's highly likely we've still got more outgoings to come.

The argument is a non-starter as far as I'm concerned.

This thread is starting to get very raggish, people are so quick to slag a player off who has been having a tough time on an off the pitch. Whatever decision the club come to with regard to Stones I am fine with. But i wont forget his contribution to our success while has been here.
Stones will leave us and watch him become a good cb. Same happened with savic heck you can say with denyar, nastasic, etc

He doesn't really think that Garcia is a better CB than Stones. Stones is going through a bad bad time and Pep doesn't trust him. The sooner Garcia is back in Spain the better.

In the right team , I’m sure he would, not sure we are the right team for him, anymore than we would be for savic or nastasic.

Can you give me an example of Garcia's positioning & reading of the game, which is better than any run of the mill cb ?

So what are we doing, waiting for Stones to figure out his problems and in the meantime, our world class players are getting older and Pep is getting closer to leave the club? Enough of excuses, it hasn’t been like this for 5 month, he hasn’t played well and consistent for two fkng years. If you think it’s more important to keep Stones rather than winning UCL, then there’s your priority

Sorry Kneville but it’s not really worth my time to try and convince you why Garcia is a better defender. I just let the clubs actions towards revamping our defence speak for itself.

John has serious issues unfortunately and he can not be blamed for these issues. It is what it is.

I don’t know what happend, his wife left him?
Then no we can’t blame him for that, but we have to expect him to give 200% for this club and stay focused on the job. If he’s not in it, then that’s not really the clubs problem. David Silvas son was close to dying and yet he performed and tried to stay focused.

We need to be ruthless to players not performing their a-game, if we ever want to reach the very top. It’s as simple as that.

You don't know of any.

You are just repeating it.
