John/Taupin v Lennon/McCartney

Okay.

Well discussed Lennon/McCartney are the benchmark.

I love most of the Beatles stuff and of course Lennon on his own, McCartney - hit and miss.
George - couple of decent efforts. Ringo? Yeah right.

Elton John and Bernie Taupin have churned out (to use the current vernacular) choon after choon!

I never thought I would look beyond the Beatles as a reference for defining British music, but, Elton is a pretty decent shout IMHO.

Shout out of course to: Bowie, Weller, Davies.

I am not talking about ‘influencing ‘ I am talking about how good is the content?
Obviously Elts and Toupee have written quite a bit of decent stuff if you're into that kind of thing. Mentioning them in the same post as Lennon/McCartney is like comparing Rolf Harris to Rembrandt though.

I know what the answer is supposed to be but I have far more Elton John stuff ,the first 9 albums, against just Abbey Road which I hardly play. So that must mean the anwer for me is Elton John and Bernie Taupin.

Love a bit of Elton John.
It’s what I call happy music which explains when denis isn’t keen…
